🎨 Learning from Cambodia’s Master Artisans

Today, Prithy and M***a visited Artisans Angkor in Siem Reap to gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s traditional craftsmanship and the creative process behind handmade products.

From stone and wood carving to silk weaving and lacquer work, they learned how skilled artisans preserve centuries of Khmer heritage while creating opportunities for local communities.

As a family at Siem Reap Homesteading, we believe that learning about local culture is an important part of every journey. Experiences like this help us better appreciate the people, traditions, and craftsmanship that make Cambodia so unique.

Our sincere thanks to the Artisans Angkor team for sharing your knowledge and for preserving Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage. ❤️🇰🇭

💚 Moments like these remind us why we love what we do.

Receiving heartfelt messages from our guests is one of the greatest rewards of running a family homestay.

A recent guest left us this beautiful handwritten note:

"Thank you very much for hosting me... I hope that your family business will grow over the next years and that your kids get the chance to reach their dreams."

To Lara, thank you for your kindness and encouragement. Even though your stay was short, it was a pleasure to welcome you into our home. Your words mean so much to our family and inspire us to continue sharing authentic Khmer hospitality with travelers from around the world.

Every guest becomes part of our journey, and every message like this reminds us that hospitality is about creating meaningful human connections.

We hope to welcome you back to Siem Reap one day. 🇰🇭❤️

🐀 Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Siem Reap Homesteading, we believe that travel and education go hand in hand.

This weekend, our children, Prithy and M***a, visited the APOPO Visitor Center in Siem Reap to learn about the remarkable African giant pouched rats trained to detect landmines and help diagnose tuberculosis.

It was an inspiring experience that reminded us how intelligence, patience, and compassion can make a real difference in people's lives. We are grateful that our children had the opportunity to learn from an organization making such a meaningful impact around the world.

As a family-run homestay, we encourage our guests to discover not only the beauty of Cambodia but also the inspiring people and organizations working to create a better future.

Thank you to the entire APOPO team for your warm welcome and for the incredible humanitarian work you do. ❤️🇰🇭

🇰🇭 **A Proud Moment for Cambodia!** 🌿

We are delighted to celebrate Cambodia's international recognition in the **2026 U.S. News Best Countries Report**, where our country achieved **No. 1 in Natural Environment** and **No. 1 in Land & Resource Sustainability**.

This achievement reflects the richness of Cambodia's ancient Khmer heritage, the magnificent temples of Angkor, the Tonle Sap Lake, the mighty Mekong River, our tropical forests, biodiversity, beautiful coastline, and the strong connection between our people and nature.

Since 2017, **Siem Reap Homesteading** has been committed to sustainable tourism, environmental conservation, and community-based hospitality. Every guest who stays with us helps support local families, preserve Khmer culture, and encourage responsible travel.

This recognition inspires us to continue our mission with even greater dedication.

Thank you to all our guests, friends, partners, and supporters from around the world. Together, we can help protect Cambodia's natural beauty and cultural heritage for future generations.

💚 **Stay with Nature • Live with Community**

This photo was taken during a light rain at Siem Reap Homesteading.

The three birds in the photo are not the young chicks that recently left the nest. They are adult birds that have been living around our garden for quite some time.

Their continued presence tells us that our homestay provides a peaceful and safe environment where birds can live, feed, and raise their families.

Just recently, another pair of birds successfully raised two chicks in a nest beside our home. Those young birds have now taken their first flights—a beautiful reminder that even a small green space can help protect nature.

This is the inspiration behind The Bird Nest Project: creating safe habitats for birds while encouraging people to appreciate and protect the natural world.

Every tree, every nest, and every bird matters. 💚🌳🐦

🐦 The Bird Nest Project – A Small Step for Nature at Siem Reap Homesteading 🌿

Today we installed our first bird nests in the garden of Siem Reap Homesteading.

This simple project is part of our commitment to create a more welcoming home for local birds and to help protect the natural biodiversity around our homestay. Birds are important for pollination, seed dispersal, and naturally controlling insects. By providing safe nesting places, we hope to encourage more birds to return to our garden.

This is only the beginning.

Over the coming months, we plan to install additional bird nests throughout our property and, eventually, work with local families and communities to encourage more bird-friendly gardens across the area.

Our vision is to show that even small actions can make a meaningful difference. Sustainable tourism is not only about reducing our environmental impact—it is also about actively restoring and protecting nature.

We look forward to sharing updates as we observe new bird visitors, nesting activities, and the growth of this project.

Thank you to everyone who supports our journey toward a greener, more sustainable future.

🌱 Every bird nest is a home.
💚 Every small action helps nature.
🏡 Together, we can create a better place for both people and wildlife.
