Life in Siem Reap continues as normal. Tourists are still visiting the temples, cafes are full of conversation, and locals are welcoming visitors with the same kindness and warmth this place is known for.

Simple Cambodian indulgence in a stick

Cha Kwai is a staple of Khmer street food culture. They are equally fitting as a light lunch or as a modest accompaniment to a typical Cambodian breakfast morning soup, or to a strong cup of coffee.

This simple yet satisfying fried breadsticks are crusty on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Cha Kwai offers both sustenance and flavour, all bundled into a delightfully unassuming package.

Khmer coffee, dark and aromatic, makes the ideal partner for Cha Kwai—whether you’re enjoying it sweet or savoury. Cha Kwai makes a fitting partner to Cambodia coffee. Dipped in condensed milk, dusted with icing sugar, or drizzled in chocolate sauce, it becomes an indulgent company for a coffee break.

Green season is here!

Seasoned visitors knows this travel hack: July to November is probably the best time to visit Cambodia!

The Green season in Cambodia starts in June/July, and reach it peak in September/October. Travel to visit during the summer in Europe, or when the Autumn is at its darkest and coldest in North America and Europe, is among the best time slots to enjoy modern Cambodia. And to visit and truly enjoy the ancient Khmer Empire remains.

The afternoon rainfalls are short, and they freshes the air and cooles down the temperature. And they make everything grow healthy green.

Including shrouding the ancient temples and imperial sites in green, softening and enhancing the contrasts. Making for more interesting and unique memories. And photos.

Do you want to go and see for yourself?

Pool Party Hostel will happily provide more information and help you explore more of what Angkor and Siem Reap has to offer.

We have motorbikes, scooters and mountain bikes for rent. And we know just the tuk-tuk drivers to get you around safe and comfortably to both well-known, and some more hidden, treasures of Siem Reap.

Here is the presentation of the photo Angkor Experience:

Off the beaten track
– photo adventures into hidden gems of Angkor Archaeological Park
What you'll do
This experience's focus is to visit, learn and take some photographs in some of the most interesting and least visited sites spots in Angkor Archaeological Park. It is an adventure you take after visiting the most famous temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm.
Enjoy a bike ride or a tuk-tuk into Angkor Park, and a walk under the canopy of trees, listening to the fauna and enjoying the smell of the flora. Then be introduced to temple remains not visited by many, but not less interesting. Be given advice on how to get the best out of the photo opportunities they offer.
Here you need an enthusiast who will help you walk, find, and explore. The enchanting part is getting there through the jungle, finding temples without crowds, making time to find your angles, your lightning, and your memories, garnished with related stories and useful tips.
To make sure you get the most out of this experience, we try to keep a slow pace and spend the time needed on each spot. That means travelling in small groups. We are looking for that playful light, enjoying the warming rays on cold stone, listening to the sound of the forest and taking in the smells of flowers and plants.
Option: This trip is by mountain bike or tuk-tuk. We can go by car too if that is preferred.

Meet your Host, Dag
The first time I visited Siem Reap 14 years ago, a connection was made to the culture and nature of Angkor Park. I have been based in Siem Reap for the last 7 years. I bike out to explore the Angkor Temples every week, always with camera. Finding new and revisiting some of the hidden temples and sites off the beaten track brings me knowledge and peace of mind, away from the most crowded temples and tourist buses. I will share some of my favourite places with you, making the experience like visiting hidden gems with a friend, enthusiastic about the cultural heritage, and photographing unique personal memories. I will be offering my knowledge as a photographer, as a storyteller, and as a passionate guy about the Khmer Civilisation and culture.

Cambodia’s Best Modern Cultural Performance
More than just a circus, Phare performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk and modern. The young circus artists will astonish you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent, making Phare Circus the top-rated modern cultural performance in Siem Reap.
Phare artists are students and graduates from Phare Ponleu Selpak, vocational training center in Battambang. The association was formed in 1994 by 9 young men coming home from a refugee camp after the Khmer Rouge regime. They were greatly helped during that time by an art teacher using drawing classes as therapy and wanted to share this new skill among the poor, socially deprived and troubled youngsters in Battambang. They founded an art school and public school followed to offer free education. A music school and theatre school were next and finally, for the kids who wanted more, the circus school. Today more than 1,200 pupils attend the public school daily and 500 attend the alternative schools. Phare Ponleu Selpak also has extensive outreach programs, trying to help with the problems highlighted in their own tales.
Phare The Cambodian Circus offers these students and graduates somewhere to hone their skills and a place to earn a decent wage. Money that will take them out of poverty and give them self-respect and freedom.
Seat A 38$ , Seat B 28$, Seat C 18$. Performance every day from 8pm. Please contact us from our front desk for more inform information 😊🙏
