If you're flying out of Korea through Incheon International Airport, you may want to take advantage of Smart Pass, a convenient service that can help make your departure smoother and faster.

What is Smart Pass?

Smart Pass is a facial recognition service provided by Incheon International Airport. Once you register your passport and facial information, you can use facial recognition at designated checkpoints instead of repeatedly showing your passport and boarding pass.

This can be especially helpful during busy travel seasons when airport queues are longer than usual.

How to Use Smart Pass

1. Download the ICN Smart Pass App

Before heading to the airport, download the ICN Smart Pass app on your smartphone.

2. Register Your Passport and Face

Use the app to scan your passport and complete the facial recognition registration process.

3. Register Your Boarding Pass

Before departure, add your boarding pass information through the app or during the airline check-in process.

4. Use Smart Pass Lanes

At designated Smart Pass checkpoints within Incheon Airport, simply use facial recognition for identity verification.

The best decision we made on our first trip to Seoul was choosing this beautiful century-old hanok stay. The overall experience exceeded all expectations

First of all, we have to highly praise the host, Kenneth — he was incredibly kind, warm, and thoughtful! From the moment we arrived, he patiently helped us with check-in and took care of everything in great detail. Since it was our first time in Seoul and we were unfamiliar with the city, he even hand-drew detailed food and transportation maps for us. Every local restaurant and hidden spot he recommended was amazing, and it saved us so much time planning our trip.

What impressed us even more was how considerate he was toward families with children. Since we were traveling with kids, he proactively arranged airport transportation for us, which made our arrival completely stress-free and very comfortable. The children were happy throughout the entire stay and kept saying how much they loved this place!

The hanok itself was also flawless. The renovated 100-year-old traditional Korean house perfectly blends traditional charm with modern comfort. The rooms were spotless, the facilities were excellent, and everything looked exactly like the photos. The atmosphere was simply wonderful.

The beds were soft and comfortable, and the house was fully equipped with 24-hour hot water, air conditioning, a washing machine, and a dryer, making the stay extremely convenient and relaxing.

What touched us most was the host’s attention to detail. He prepared a generous breakfast, along with snacks, fruits, and drinks. Free coffee beans and green tea were always available, making us feel truly at home. He even thoughtfully prepared many small items needed for families traveling with children, which made the entire experience feel warm and welcoming.

The location was another huge advantage! It’s only a 3-minute walk to Gongdeok Station, with access to 4 subway lines and the airport railroad. Traveling to places like Hongdae, Myeongdong, and Dongdaemun was incredibly convenient. Within a 5-minute walk, there were also many great restaurants, making both sightseeing and dining very easy.

Overall, whether you are traveling with family or friends, this place is absolutely perfect. The host is thoughtful and welcoming, the location is excellent, and the house is clean, comfortable, and full of thoughtful details. This is definitely one of the best places to stay in Seoul. We have already recommended it to friends, and we will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Seoul. Highly recommended!

Although it is a scene you can no longer experience today, until the 1990s, passengers on the Seoul subway usually bought magnetic tickets directly from station ticket windows instead of vending machines.

Those small windows, now mostly closed or blocked off, were once the places where commuters purchased their subway tickets from station staff. Back then, station employees had memorized the fares to virtually every subway station in Seoul. The moment you told them your destination, they would hand you the correct ticket and change within seconds.

If you visit Seoul, take a closer look at the old spaces near the subway station ticket areas.
You may discover a small trace of Seoul’s analog past that has quietly disappeared with time.
