Blu coccept,HongDae,Seoul
Blu Concept is in the Hongik University (Hongdae) area of Seoul, known as a hot spot for its nightlife and diverse cultural offerings. Blu Concept is about a 7- to 8-minute walk from the Hongik University subway station.
For about the past 6 years Blu was a guesthouse catering to short-term visitors to Seoul, but due to increased demand for long-term housing options, in September we converted all rooms into long-term apartments available for rent.
The specific aim of Blu Concept is to be not just another apartment building, but a community living space designed for people with interest in music and travel. It doesn’t matter where you’ve come from or what kind of background you have – all are welcome to join in this community together.
The ground floor of the building is a moderately sized lounge area. This space is available for residents to unwind in after a day’s work, to enjoy a beer or some music with other residents and share in life together with others.
Room dimensions:
By Korean standards, the studio apartments are large: 13.5 pyung (45 m2/ 500 sq ft) which translates into about 5m X 9m. Each room is the exact same size, and is large enough to be shared by two people, if desired. Rooms are available in the basement, and on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.
Terms:
Monthly rent rates differ by floor:
Basement (with patio): 550,000 rent + 50,000 maintenance fee
Second floor: 750,000 + 50,000 maintenance fee
Third floor: 750,000 + 50,000 maintenance fee
Fourth floor (with balcony): 800,000 + 50,000 maintenance fee
The security deposit equivalent to 3 months’ rent. It must be paid upon moving in and will be returned to the tenant upon moving out. There is no separate key money required (key money is a very large deposit typically required by Korean landlords).
Contracts can only be made for periods of at least 6 months.
The maintenance fee includes wi-fi and water. Electricity and gas utilities are the responsibility of the tenant, and must be paid individually.
Amenities: Each studio apartment is furnished with a digital door lock, queen-size bed, sofa, gas stove, fridge, desk, chairs, and a wardrobe. A washing machine is located on the basement.
Kevin comment
I am an American and I lived at Blu for a year while playing with an orchestra in Seoul. I am a professional musician and my first priority while looking for an apartment was to find a place where I could practice. Blu was the answer. It is difficult to find a place that allows the kind of noise that practicing creates, especially as a trombonist. The fact that Blu is musician friendly was my biggest selling point. When I first contacted the landlord, Jay, he was tremendously helpful in every aspect of my move to Seoul and I couldn't have been more grateful for that. He definitely went above and beyond what I expected of a landlord. While there weren't any issues during my stay here, even the smallest thing like a light bulb that needed to be changed or any other minor question was immediately and promptly taken care of. Jay has definitely been the best landlord I have ever had, no doubt.
The apartment itself for a studio is quite large compared to other places that I have seen in Seoul. On top of that, the location really couldn't be any better as well. Everything you need is within a 5 to 10 minute walk. The immediate neighborhood where Blu is located is nice and quiet and subdued, but you are just minutes walk away from all of the restaurants, shopping, bars and clubs in Hongdae. The apartment is equidistant from both Hongdae and Hapjeong stations as well which is extremely convenient. Both about a 7 minute walk.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone, especially musicians. Everything you'd want in accommodations, location, landlord, and atmosphere is here.
