Located next to the Living Crafts Centre, the Villa is a 5 minute tuk tuk ride, 10 minute bicycle or 30 minute walk south of the town centre in Ban Saylom. Our free tuk tuk shuttle is available for pick up in both directions. Feel at home, whether you are relaxing in the tranquility of your comfortable room, taking in a spectacular sunset on the Villa’s veranda, or exchanging greetings with our artisans and Ock Pop Tok team.

Hop on for a self-guided tour of our Living Crafts Centre and grab something to eat at our Silk Road Cafe by the Mekong! From April 13th to 18th included, our tuk tuk service from our shop in town (next to 3 Nagas) to our centre in Ban Saylom is available from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. Join us to celebrate Pi Mai Lao!

For the festive season, we're introducing our Cheese Plate featuring 4 cheeses: Comté, Camembert, Buffalo Blue (made in Luang Prabang), Buffalo Cream Cheese with jalapeños, served with bread, homemade crackers, tamarind jam, and more...

And from now until January 3rd, we're extending our opening hours. We'll be open from 8.30 to 19.30. Last order at 19.00.

Sabaidee! Given the recent developments in Laos regarding COVID-19, we have temporarily closed our Boutique Shop in town. However, our Living Crafts Centre remains open at our regular hours (7 am to 8 pm - check our website for details). Our restaurant has only outside seating overlooking the Mekong and social distancing is being respected, our premises are being cleaned and disinfected thoroughly, our staff is wearing masks and sanitizing at all times. We're doing our best to keep everyone safe - our staff and our customers - while still providing service.

Our Story

Mekong River is an atmospheric, serene and artistic boutique bed & breakfast located amidst tropical gardens with stunning Mekong River views. Part of Ock Pop Tok, a Luang Prabang-based social enterprise that works directly with artisans, Mekong VIlla gives guests an opportunity to experience living nearby an artisan community and the tranquility of riverside living while still enjoying privacy.

A stay at the Mekong River is a full cultural immersion into the arts and cultural activity of an artisan community. We provide an opportunity for travellers to step away from the bustling tourist center in town, and to learn, share and relax in an exceptionally beautiful, peaceful and creative setting. Whether you are relaxing in the tranquility of your comfortable room, taking in a spectacular sunset on the villa’s verandah, or exchanging greetings and conversing with our staff, you will be at home!

The Villa is old Lao-French style home that has been remodeled into five beautiful rooms. The Hmong, Katu, Tai and Hill Tribe rooms are decorated in textiles handmade by artisans we work with through our Village Weaver Projects. The rooms feature air conditioning and en suite bathrooms and are outfitted with comfortable beds, linens and robes. There is complimentary Wi-Fi in the rooms and throughout the property. Personally decorated by the owners, the Mekong Villa feels as though you are staying in the home of a friend with fabulous taste and a great textile collection.
