Guita

Guita Guita Bed&Bloom is an eco-friendly guesthouse and organic farm nested in the beautiful mountains of Akoura
(216)

After an MBA abroad, Philippe the founder, reconnected with his passion: ecology and roots. Instead of choosing the traditional path and getting a corporate job, Philippe chose to honor and grow what his late father left him: A beautiful farm and a home in the majestic town of Akoura in Mount Lebanon. Philippe took what we deem today as the road less traveled and moved back to Lebanon, dedicating

his days and nights, to farming the land, redesigning his home into the vision he had: developing his little piece of heaven into an eco, agri and hospitality space for people to connect with the land and each other, away from the noise. Guita Bed&Bloom opened its doors in the summer of 2015, and today has hosted yoga retreats, cooking classes, celebrations, family gatherings, private parties, hikers, wannabe farmers, lovers and solo travelers...

In the late 19th century, Philippe’s late grand father, a poor kid living in the village of Akoura, sailed on a big ship to the Americas, seeking treasures and wealth. He landed in Dominican Republic and decades later, he returned and along with his brothers purchased farming lands, and were the first to commercially grow apples in Lebanon. Philippe’s late grand father and father, diversified the land, with walnuts, cherries and more products. The land you are sitting on, has centuries of history and stories. Guita means in Persian "the one who sings" and this definition truly embodies the essence of the project. It is also mainly the name of Philippe's mother, Guita Chami, because she exemplifies the true meaning of hospitality, generosity and care. If you are lucky, you will meet Guita, and she will prepare you one of her favorite recipes. The five rooms are each uniquely designed, each inspired by the nature and is grown in the farm around the guesthouse. We invite you to have a look at the “Guita Rooms” Album in the Photo Library to know more about the magic of every room!

A season to slow down, stay close to the fire and listen to the mountains.
The farm rests, the house breathes, and time feels a little softer.

Guita’s 10-year anniversary 💫
Better late than never…
We couldn’t skip sharing this major milestone of our journey, celebrated last September.
Ten years of growth, encounters, and shared moments.
Here’s a selection of photos and videos from this special celebration.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of it, one way or another.
And for those who haven’t yet — you can make it up in the coming decade 😉
To many more years of shared moments and encounters around our banquet, bonfire, and orchards, surrounded by our beautiful mountains. 🍽🔥🌳⛰️

Get ready to be bewitched with aromatic and medicinal plants, flowers, and natural material through smell, touch, vision and taste, while listening to stories of women’s relation to love, loss, nature and magic. Petra will take you on an experience of ancestral healing, care, magic and witchcraft inspired by healing tools from her grandmothers and witches she met during her exploration.

This performance is a gesture of care amid normalized global violence, where both lands and bodies are in a state of precarity. It is part of the series “Gesture of Care” that explores care as a method of research, creation and sharing.

Schedule:

Arrive at Guita, Aaqoura at 12:00

Walk in nature with Philippe Germanos from 12:30 till 1:30

Lunch and break in our garden 1:30 till 3:00

Performance 3:00 till 4:30

[Please wear comfortable clothes]

About

Petra Serhal is a multidisciplinary artist creating multi-sensorial work. Her work revolves around the experiential aspects of perfrmance while using choreography as her main tool for research and practice. Her work examines the body, language, and sound in relation to movement and space, addressing themes like memory, absence,  fragmentation, body as archive and embodiment. Recently, Serhal's work has been focusing on olfactory art, exploring the power of scent and nature as a means of identity, rootedness, and spatial creation.
