Aujourd'hui, anniversaire de la cinéaste, nous annonçons la première rétrospective partielle des films restaurés de Jocelyne Saab. Les équipes de la Jocelyne Saab Association à Beyrouth et ailleurs (Mounir Al Mahmoud, Manal Zakharia, Adrien Von Nagel, Nadim Kamel, Wassim Tanios, Margaux Chalencon, Maël Simon, Chrystel Elias, Monzer El Hachem) ont pu à ce jour restaurer l'ensemble des films documentaire de Jocelyne Saab réalisés durant la guerre civile libanaise entre 1974 et 1982.
Nous sommes très fiers de pouvoir montrer ces nouvelles versions numériques des films pour la première fois à la Cinémathèque québécoise entre le 18 et le 25 mai prochain.

Today, on the filmmaker's birthday, we announce the first partial retrospective of Jocelyne Saab's restored films. The teams of the Jocelyne Saab Association, in Beirut and elsewhere, (Mounir Al Mahmoud, Manal Zakharia, Adrien Von Nagel, Nadim Kamel, Wassim Tanios, Margaux Chalencon, Maël Simon, Chrystel Elias, Monzer El Hachem) have been able to restore all of Jocelyne Saab's documentaries made during the Lebanese Civil War between 1974 and 1982.
We are very proud to be able to show these new digital versions of the films for the first time at the Cinémathèque québécoise between May 18 and 25.

في يوم عيد ميلاد المخرجة جوسلين صعب ، نعلن عن أول عرض استعادي جزئي للأفلامها المستعادة . تمكنت فرق جمعية جوسلين صعب في بيروت وأماكن أخرى (منير المحمود ، منال زخريا ، أدريان فون ناجل ، نديم كامل ، وسيم طانيوس ، مارجو تشالينكون ، مايل سيمون ، كريستل الياس ، منذر الهاشم) حتى الآن من استعادة مجموعة أفلام وثائقية لجوسلين صعب خلال الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية بين 1974 و 1982.

Today is the last day of a 3-day Digital Film Restoration Workshop organized by Cinematheque Beirut and the Jocelyne Saab's Friends Association at The postoffice in Beirut. Three participants (professionals in color-grading and post-production) were introduced to the tools and concepts of digital film restoration and received hands-on training on the digital restoration software Diamant HS ART.
The workshop was given by Mounir Al-Mahmoud and Mahmoud Korek from The postoffice on footage from the films of Jocelyne Saab scanned at the Polygone Étoilé in Marseille.

That day ....at DBeirut where our offices are.
Never thought that we might one day do a multi-cam edit of our own destruction.
Beirut at the moment of her fall, made tens of thousands of miracles, here is one of them.

“ State of Agitation” by Elie Khalifeh. Feature film.
We were doing the last touches and the end credits and final renders. Then came the blast, the day we were supposed to finalise. We missed the deadline for Malmö Arab Film Festival where the film was in selection.
This film took the hard way since it was a draft Elie was working on, then shooting on and off for 2 years with available people, friends and equipment, the hard way until the last task.
We did the final output 2 weeks after the blast, the SAN server was damaged but was still functional with a persistent alarm and warning messages.
The film went through.
We made a preview copy, we sent it, we received the first feedback today.

That’s how Lebanese Cinema works, passionate people taking crazy risks.
We wanted to share a good news with all the friends and colleagues.
There is no Cinema without the skilled technicians and artists.
We can do it with less money and less equipment but not without you.
Please don’t give up, please don’t leave.

Today we finished the last VFX shot of “Beirut Hold’em” by Michel Kammoun.
The final conform is in process, the movie will be ready for release when the World is ready and released
