Somaland is a beautiful working estate of approximately 10 acres with tea and spices such as pepper, clove and nutmeg. The 5 bedroom Sri Lankan style villa and its annex buildings are set in a well kept botanical garden. The main house offers 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms to share, a vast living area and reception hall, with separate library and dining room. Breakfast is served on the verandah of the inner courtyard. The villa is tastefully decorated with traditional Sri Lankan furniture and colonial antiques. Set in the garden one finds a separate bungalow offering a comfortable suite with individual bathroom. A garden path leads up to the pool area. Friendly staff will see to your every need. Gamage has been a driver and guide for one of Sri Lanka's largest tour operators and knows every nook and cranny of the island. His wife Nilani is an excellent cook and loving caretaker. The property can also be rented exclusively, with a minimum stay of 3 nights. Somaland Estate offers the perfect stay for the discerning traveller wishing to explore the Central Highlands in style. The property is just a half hour drive from Kandy with its famous Temple of the Tooth and Royal Botanical Gardens. A further 15 minute drive east of Kandy lies the award winning Victoria Golf Course. A 1,5 hour journey through vast tea plantations leads to Nuwara Eliya, a favourite retreat of the British during colonial times, earning it the name ‘Little England’.
