Horton Plain’s: (full days trek) A UNESCO world heritage wilderness area, designated for it bio diversity and cloud forest. It is the most important catchment area of Sri Lanka. Most of the major rivers of Sri Lanka start here on their way to sea. The route to Horton plains from Banadarawela falls via Diyathalawa and Ohiya or one could use the train to get to Ohiya and walk the last five kilometers on foot. This is offered as a guided tour under an experienced guide with picnic lunch.

Ravana & Diyaluma Falls: (45 minutes) Half days trekking or more if you plan to have a picnic lunch. Bandarawela is the eco and the trekking capital of Sri Lanka, though the terrain is never flat, it’s not physically taxing due to the glorious climate of Banadarawela. The Ravana falls is the broadest (30 ft) and most furious of waterfalls of Sri Lanka, just like the mythical king of the Valmiki Ramayan after whom it’s named. Dilyaluma is off Poonagala road (same road as the hotel) is the 3rd highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. This trek is offered under an experienced guide with picnic lunch of return back to the hotel for lunch.

Ella Gap: (30 Minutes) The famed gap of the Uva mountain range, where two ranges drop down 3,000 ft to the coastal peneplain, creating one of the most spectacular sceneries. The location is also famous for adventure sports and trekking where the terrain creates some of the toughest challenges for the trekker. On a clear day one could enjoy views of the great Basses lighthouses in the distance.

A hot meal after a day of trekking or just relaxing in the lawn with a cup of fresh brewed tea, letting your eye traverse freely as far as possible
The chef would be glad to cook whatever you might want to have, of course the choice is yours to either be on pension basis or set menu. The food comes without the additives as in these parts of Sri Lanka, cooks love to show their prowess in whatever they cook rather than get outside help to do it.

Tea Estate & woods trail:
Bandarawela as you’ll see is one massive tea estate from one end to the other and jungle on the other where elk, sambur and wild boar roam. Most of the trails here are stepped and easy to navigate but never straight and almost continuous climb, up or down. Most of the forests around are montane though many Cyprus patches are also found. Walk along the narrow paths the tea plucker’s use on their daily routine relishing the numerous little waterfalls along way. Stop and join in their work or just watch how their delicate fingers dance across the tea bushes plucking the perfect two and a half leaves, and their shrouded smiles.

Horton Plains National Park in Ohiya is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,100–2,300 metres (6,900–7,500 ft) is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. This region was designated a national park in 1988. It is also a popular tourist destination and is situated 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Ohiya, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the world famous Ohiya Gap/Dondra Watch and 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Nuwara Eliya.
