“Chilled out at beautiful Dalmanuta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW
We stayed two weeks here and found the room clean and comfortable, the food delicious and good value, the staff friendly and the grounds amazing. The hotel is on the river, next to mangroves and has the feeling of being part of the jungle, with an abundance of plant life and wildlife including water monitors, mongooses, geckos, monkeys and a great variety of birds. We initially thought there weren't enough sun beds around the pool but we found that as the hotel wasn't full and other guests were often only passing through or went to the beach, we often had the pool to ourselves. The jetties over the river were a great spot to dine and also to watch the sunset, and the bungalow's private garden was good to sit out at dusk enjoying the peace and watching the bats flying overhead (don't forget the mozzie spray though!).
We arranged an overnight trip to Yala with Upul, the hotel's driver, who took great care of us, pointing out interesting sites en route, and even introduced us to his family - nothing was too much trouble. He also took us on a few trips to local sites - Brief Garden was particularly good. The boat trip to the beach was convenient and we also went into the town to eat a couple of times but didn't find anywhere better than the hotel.
We'd have no hesitation in recommending Dalmanuta Gardens to anyone looking for a relaxing break or a brief stop to chill out while touring the island.
