Before Ceylon was known for tea, it was known for coffee.

From the hills of Kandy and the central highlands, coffee once travelled down to Colombo and onwards to the world. Then, in the late 19th century, coffee rust changed the course of the island’s story and tea took its place. Today, coffee is finding its way back into the Sri Lankan landscape, from small growers and highland estates to the cafés and tables where it is enjoyed every day.

So, on International Coffee Day, we’re raising a cup to the drink that has been part of Sri Lanka’s story long before we became synonymous with tea.

At Table by Nyne, coffee is less about the rush and more about the ritual. A first cup in the morning, an afternoon pause, a conversation that lingers a little longer.
