Looking out across the palm-fringed shore dotted with catamarans drifting along the sea, this is unmistakably Negombo. A coastal town renowned for its Lellama fish market, abundant seafood culture, and the authentic flavours that define its culinary identity.

Elementally Jetwing: Episode 3 introduces Chef Anjula and a philosophy inspired by Negombo’s rich fishing heritage. His approach celebrates fresh seafood, balanced with the warmth and character of local spice, shaping a culinary journey defined by the spirit of the coast.

At Jetwing Blue and Jetwing Beach, experiences flow by the ocean through generous buffet spreads, open-air terraces, and refined coastal settings.

This is his story from the coast.

We recently published and launched Ceylon in 1907, a rare and evocative photographic record offering a window into Sri Lanka at the turn of the 20th century and marking a significant cultural milestone in reinterpreting the island’s past through a contemporary lens.

At its core is a remarkable collection of photographs captured in 1907 by Scottish artist Edward Atkinson Hornel during his travels across then Ceylon. Reframed through present-day scholarship, these images document everyday life, labour, ritual, and landscapes, revealing valuable insights into the island’s economic, social, and cultural history.

Authored by architect and conservationist Pali Wijeratne in collaboration with art historian Dr. Antonia Laurance Allen, 'Ceylon in 1907' is further strengthened by the research and insights of leading Sri Lankan scholars.

At Jetwing Hotels, heritage stewardship is integral to our hospitality, with each property telling a story that’s rooted in place, especially our restored hotels in Jaffna, Rambukkana, Galle, and the hill country. Supporting this publication continues our commitment to presenting Sri Lanka as a living heritage, not merely a destination.

📖 ‘Ceylon in 1907’ is now available for purchase at selected Jetwing Hotels.

Food has always been at the heart of our Sri Lankan culture, serving as an elemental reflection of our landscapes and our people. At Jetwing Hotels, we imagine our culinary scene as a living story of traditions passed down through generations. Rooted in sustainability and guided by authenticity, it is an expression of regional flavours that celebrate local narratives.

Our series, 'Elementally Jetwing,' unveils the artisans who define our culinary philosophy. We begin with Chef Pathum Mihiran. Inspired by his mother’s love for cooking, Pathum seeks to elevate the act of dining into a moment of pure, shared connection.

Merging creative intuition with a reverence for the island’s bounty, he collaborates closely with the Jetwing Luxury Reserves’ culinary teams to redefine modern Sri Lankan cuisine. His plates are a synthesis of refined mastery that honour the distinct spirit of place. This is his story of craft.

Step back in time with a glimpse into the history of the Upper Bungalow of the Uva Ben Head Estate, Jetwing Hoffmann Bungalow. A defining chapter shaped by Sri Lanka's rich tea heritage and vibrant birdlife, set within the serene embrace of Welimada.

Originally built in the early 1940s, this charming tea-estate bungalow served as a wartime holiday home during World War II, owned by A. Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd. In 2022, Jetwing Hotels lovingly reimagined this timeless retreat, restoring its quiet elegance and authentic sense of place.

Named in honour of Thilo Hoffmann, former Chairman of A. Baur & Company, a passionate environmental conservationist and revered member of the Ceylon Bird Club, the bungalow’s name beautifully reflects its legacy as a sanctuary for nature lovers and birdwatchers alike.

Today, Jetwing Hoffmann Bungalow rests serenely amid the rolling hills of Welimada, overlooking the vast, lush 100-acre private tea estate.

National Geographic turns its lens to Sri Lanka’s misty highlands and a timeless tea culture.

The up-country, a landscape recognised for its place among the world’s finest single-origin teas, is also one we are fortunate to call home.

At Jetwing Warwick Gardens and Meena Amma’s Tea Experience, this legacy becomes part of your stay. Begin with a guided walk across the Warwick Estate. Try your hand at tea picking. Gather for a curated tasting of artisanal teas. A thoughtful introduction to a way of life that continues to define these hills and our place within them.

Experience Sri Lanka's rich tea heritage in a place National Geographic calls one of the world’s most celebrated tea landscapes. View the story at the link in bio.
