Sanjeewa Perera: A People-Centric Leader Takes the Helm in the Maldives

Hotelier Sri Lanka is proud to spotlight the stellar career of one of our own, Mr. Sanjeewa Perera—a truly versatile leader whose career is a masterclass in human-centric hospitality.

Currently serving as the Area Vice President for Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts in the Maldives, Sanjeewa's reputation as a "people's person" precedes him. This was never more evident than during his celebrated tenure as General Manager of the Bentota Beach Hotel. To this day, his legacy there is defined by his remarkable ability to foster a rare trifecta of satisfaction: the management was happy, the staff were happy, and the local villagers were happy.

His philosophy proves that genuine success is built on the foundation of strong, respectful relationships with all stakeholders.

With nearly two decades of international hospitality experience spanning the United States, Canada, Africa, the Caribbean, and the UAE, Darsh Gallage has built an exceptional career alongside some of the world’s most iconic brands — Hilton, Shangri-La, Accor, EMAAR, Miral Experiences (Ferrari World, Warner Bros., Yas Waterworld) and Dubai Holding / MERAAS.

But his journey began much earlier on the shores of Sri Lanka, where his father, a scuba diver, welcomed tourists and created lasting memories. That early spark ignited a lifelong passion for service and human connection.

Today, as the Hospitality Director of Nuwa Colombo / COD, Darsh brings his global expertise home — blending international excellence with Sri Lankan heart. His decision to return was both personal and professional, rooted in family, purpose, and a deep desire to contribute to Sri Lanka’s hospitality growth.

Now, he continues to inspire the next generation of hoteliers through his story of resilience, leadership, and authenticity.
