Exploring everything around Backpacker Cycling Hostel 🇱🇰

If you’re staying here, this is what you’ve got within reach:

📍 Unawatuna Beach – 1 km
The main beach. Calm water, sunset swims, cafés along the shore.

📍 Dewata Beach – 3 km
Beginner-friendly surf spot. Fewer tourists, more locals.

📍 Turtle Beach – 1.5 km
Small hidden bay where turtles sometimes swim close to shore.

📍 Jungle Beach 1 – 3 km (15–20 min walk through the jungle)
Clear water, quieter vibe, worth the hike.

📍 Jungle Beach 2 – 3 km
Same area, but more social. Music, backpackers, sunset energy.

📍 Galle Fort – 6 km
Historic colonial fort. Coffee spots, ocean walls, golden hour views.

📍 Japanese Peace Pagoda – 2.5 km
Hilltop stupa overlooking the Indian Ocean. One of the best views in the south.

All of this within a short scooter ride from the hostel.

Not a bad place to wake up every day.

Cycling Hostel is a new hostel open by 2017. Located just in 1.5 Km meters from the famous Unawatuna Beach and 5 Km from Galle city center, Cycling Hostel is a great stop for backpackers and travelers discovering the south coast of Sri Lanka.

The hostel is situated directly (almost next door) at the Unawatuna train station and 5 minutes’ walk from the Galle – Matara main road. Shops, restaurants, beach bars/cafes, ATM, Post Office and bus stop are all less than a 5 to 20 minute walk.
