Niyagama House Niyagama House - your retreat in the tea plantation Kind regards,

Elke & Chaminda de Silva

Niyagama House is a retreat with seven guest rooms in the middle of our tea plantation in southern Sri Lanka. The plantation is only six miles inland from the coastal city of Galle, the World Heritage Site Galle Fort and the beaches at the Indian Ocean. In Niyagama House you can spend a wonderful holiday with yoga, ayurvedic massage, swimming in the large, chlorine-free pool, observing tropical birds or chilling-out in a hammock.

Some little corners of Niyagama House

The fish pond you pass by, an atmospheric spot to sit for a while, plants from the garden brought inside, and doors that almost always open to something green.

Just a few things that make the house feel like Niyagama House. 🤍

Namaste,
the Niyagama House family

From our garden to your breakfast table

Bananas, papayas, coconuts, guavas and many more tropical fruits grow right here around Niyagama House.

Picked when they are ready, prepared by our team and served fresh to our guests in the morning. Simple, local and just a few steps from where they were growing.

It doesn’t get much fresher than that.

A little walk around Niyagama House with Prasad

Tea, Cinnamon and pepper are all growing right here around the house, and Prasad knows exactly where to find them.

Walking through the garden with him always comes with a little story, a new detail of something we probably would have walked right past. From the tea growing all around us to cinnamon and pepper hidden between the greenery, there is so much to discover right on our doorstep.

Come and join us on our next plantation tour…

One of the best ways to experience Sri Lanka? Through its food. 🥥

Our cooking classes are all about slowing down, cooking together and discovering the flavours that make Sri Lankan cuisine so special.

From fresh spices and coconut to curries prepared from scratch, you will learn how some of our favourite local dishes come together. Enjoy your curries for dinner.

A little messy, very delicious and one of those experiences that often becomes a favourite memory of the stay.

Would you join us for a Sri Lankan rice & curry cooking class?

Evenings like this are part of what makes a retreat at Niyagama House feel so special 💫

As the light fades over the hills, the rooftop becomes a quiet space for meditation, reflection and simply spending time together.

Retreats here are not limited to the yoga shala. Different corners of the house can become part of the experience, depending on what the group needs in that moment.

A slower end to the day, surrounded by nature.

Namaste,
Elke
