▪️Round trip day 3▪️

We went up early in the morning and had a walk in the nature before the breakfast. We went to a beautiful lake with the lotus flowers and to see a cricket place where the locals played the evening before.

The only stop for the day was “Kande Vihara Temple” which is one of the biggest Buddhist temples in the Kalutara District. The name of this sacred place means ‘Mountain Temple’ and was derived because it was built on the crest of a hill near to Aluthgama town. The temple is a formally recognized Archaeological Site of Sri Lanka.

We bought the beautiful flowers in different colors. specially the lotus are my favorite, and we had the chance to be in the moment with the rest of the locals who visited the temple at the same time.

The boys went to a souvenir shop afterwords and found souvenirs to bring back to Denmark.

After being here we went back to Hikkaduwa ~ WELEGES PLACE. It has been one more unforgettable trip to remember.

▪️Round trip day 2▪️

We started the day with breakfast - Sri Lankan breakfast and a good cup of tea facing the hills. The most beautiful view ever. Could stay here longer than one night. Nature, peace and a lovely place with warm people who makes you feel like home.
We definitely have to come back. We have already made that decision.

We drove to Bopath Ella Falls which is a breathtaking waterfall located in the Ratnapura District of Sri Lanka near the village of Kuruwita.
Visitors to Bopath Ella can enjoy the serene ambiance, the cool breeze, and the rhythmic sound of cascading water. Bopath Ella is a must-visit attraction for travelers exploring Sri Lanka’s water falls

We visited great people in Matugama, had a swim in the pool and played badminton at the Uma Garden Kandegedara. We ended the day with a dinner and white wine - good conversation and laughter. Couldn’t be better and the cousins had a great time together too.

One more day to remember🙏

▪️Round trip July 2026▪️

We have been on a trip for three days/two nights with our family. We drove in a van with a private driver which we always do. We like to travel this way together.

As a family we love to travel around the Island and explore something new so we can recommend the places we have experience ourselves. There are many things to see and different climate in the hills compared to the coast areas.

▪️Ratnapura • Matugama • Alutgama ▪️
We haven’t been in Ratnapura since December 2022.

The places we saw:
• Cinnamon trees, Rubber trees, Pineapple trees
• Rice fields
•Tea plantations
•6 different homes with a different life story (Ratnapura and Matugama)
• Bopath Ella Falls
• Kande Vihara Temple (Alutgama)

Hotels:
• Terrace Cinnamon View
• Uma Garden Kandegedara

Ratnapura is known as Sri Lanka’s “City of Gems,” a center for gem mining and trading, located in the southwestern part of the island.

Ratnapura affords grand views of the surrounding countryside, in particular the famous and revered mountain, Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada). The most visited waterfalls at Ratnapura are Bopath Ella Falls in the village of Kuruvita and Katugas Ella Falls in the village of Mahawelawatta and also the Kirindi Ella Falls.

Both hotels is located in the nature with a personal touch. Specially the hotel in Ratnapura was so magical with a stunning view. The sunset and sunrise and the lights in the night from the high hills was beautiful. The food ~ Breakfast and dinner ~ was great. The rice and curry was tasty as always. We had an unforgettable time all together.

❤️A home away from home❤️ - A perfect start on our holiday in Sri Lanka. After a 1/2 year it’s great to be back in our paradise surrounded by our lovely family who always bring so much love, care and peace into our lives❤️ We feel more than grateful- the bridge which connects the two countries into the meaningful life🙏
