Binara Full Moon Poya Day is a significant day for Buddhists, commemorating the establishment of the Bhikkhuni Order (Order of Buddhist Nuns). 🪷

It is traditionally associated with Queen Mahapajapati Gotami and the first women being admitted to the Buddhist monastic order with the Buddha’s permission.

Nikini Full Moon Poya Day is an important day for Buddhists in Sri Lanka. It is especially significant for the beginning of the Buddhist monks’ Vassana (rainy-season retreat).
Key significance includes:

* 🪷 Beginning of the Vassana retreat – Buddhist monks traditionally begin their three-month retreat during this period.
* 🧘 The First Buddhist Council – The first Dhamma Council is traditionally associated with Nikini Poya.
