Every morning, a group of local fishermen gather on the sand to haul in massive nets laid out at sea the night before. It is a true community effort; the day’s catch is first distributed among the men who worked the lines to take home to their families, with the remainder making its way to nearby local fish markets.

What makes this ritual so special is its timing; you’ll witness this every day except Fridays. As the local community is largely Tamil Hindu, the nets stay dry on Fridays while the fishermen attend the Kovil. It’s a beautiful reminder of the deep-rooted traditions that dictate the pace of life on our shores.
