After hours spent navigating tea trails and tracking down hill country waterfalls, the games room becomes the natural evening anchor ♟️

Designed with the intimacy of a private country residence, it’s a space made for slow, unhurried hours; a competitive round of cards, a cosy movie night, or simply lounging with a steaming mug in hand while the mist thickens outside.

The best mornings in the hills begin around a breakfast table. Bowl-shaped egg hoppers take center stage, accompanied by sambols, a not-to-be-missed dhal, and slow-cooked regional curries best enjoyed outdoors with a side of cool valley air 👌🏼

A specific kind of comfort is reserved only for the hill country; one that relies on the contrast between the cold mountain air outside and the cocoon-like warmth indoors.

Here, mornings rarely begin with an alarm, but with the soft shifting of light through floor-to-ceiling drapes. The polished timber floors carry a subtle gleam underfoot, leading your eyes to a bed draped in fine linen and structured by a classic four-poster frame.

You tend to want to linger a little longer, listening to the distant, rhythmic hum of the estate coming to life while tucked beneath the weight of a heavy duvet. It breeds a delicious kind of indecision: do you stay snugged up in bed until noon, or venture out just far enough to draw a deep, steaming bath, letting the rest of the world wait? 😌

Breakfast in the hills is a slow ritual dictated by the sun breaking through the mist. Perched on the edge of the estate, the morning table almost always consists of a vibrant palette of fruits, juices, and artisanal bakes, all set against a backdrop of deep, dew-kissed tea bushes.

The air carries a sharp freshness that makes the warmth of your morning brew taste entirely different than it does on the coast. It’s about taking that first bite while wrapped in a light shawl, watching the shadows retreat across the valley ☀️

Planter’s bungalow architecture understands the sun. The outdoor terrace is designed for those in-between hours of the afternoon, where the high-altitude sun casts long, linear shadows through the overhead beams. It’s a space meant for doing absolutely nothing, with intent.

Settled into woven chairs with a book you’ve been putting off, you can track the movement of the afternoon by the shifting shadows on the stone floor, accompanied only by the occasional rustle of the garden’s agapanthus blooms or a friendly neighbourhood bird 🦜

The scent of crackling wood mixed with the crisp night air as stories are shared and glasses are raised 👌🏼 Name something better, we’ll wait.

We love that at this elevation; the pool doesn't just reflect the sky; it almost absorbs the forest and serves as a glass-like mirror to the towering conifers and dense eucalyptus trees that lovingly border Goatfell 🌳

After an afternoon walking the cold, winding paths of the estate, coming inside is all about sensory comfort. The warmth of the dining room, the soft glow of the lamps, and a decadent, chocolate fondant that melts into cold vanilla ice cream.

It is rich, comforting, and exactly what the crisp Nuwara Eliya evening calls for; a sweet, slow end to a day spent in the mist 🤎

The slow rhythm of the bungalow. There is an understated luxury to a morning that requires nothing of you. Watch the morning dew dry off the agapanthus while our team prepares a table in the garden for a long, unhurried breakfast (with a view!) 🌿
