How we keep our visitors safe after COVID-19

Sanitization and social distancing

We at KHM have taken strict measures to introduce enhanced cleaning technology at all our properties—for instance, staff will be using electrostatic sprayers with hospital-grade disinfectant to sanitize surfaces throughout the hotels. The sprayers will be able to quickly clean and disinfect guest rooms, lobbies, gyms, and other public areas. In addition, we will use ultraviolet light technology for sanitizing keys for guests and devices shared by associates and will also be placing disinfecting wipes in each room for guests’ personal use, and there will be additional hand sanitizing stations throughout our properties.

Moreover, we are implementing enhanced sanitation guidelines and training for food safety, including recommended hygiene and disinfecting practices. We will modify our in-room dining services and designing new approaches to buffets provide our guests by introducing “Room Service Apps”. Guests have the option to type in the web address or, to make the whole process even easier, scan a QR code located on their nightstand. From there, all they have to do is check out the up-to-date menu, hit a few buttons.

Touchless check In

Even with strict cleaning protocols in place, exchanging travel documents and touching surfaces through check-in, still represent a significant risk of infection for both travellers and staff. Therefore, we will impose “Biometrics Solutions” such as face recognition and touchless document scanning for identity verification and check in across our properties eliminate the risk of potential spread of the virus. We are currently testing the facility for our guests to use their phones to check in, access their rooms, make special requests, and order contact-less room service which we hope to implement across our properties in the near future.

Here's a preview of the operational guidelines drafted for the Tourism Industry on preparedness and response to COVID-19 outbreak by Sri Lanka Tourism; as we prepare for reopening.

We are seeking feedback from the Ministry of Health and World Health Organization (WHO) on this and the document was also shared with the Hotels Association as an initial step to seek their feedback.

After in detail discussions with the industry stakeholders and their feedbacks, the amended draft will be circulated to the industry.
