A memorable evening at Royal Avenue Kandy, with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya among the guests attending a special wedding celebration hosted at the hotel.

You witness it once and it stays with you.

Each year, for ten nights, Kandy gives its streets over to the Perahera. Whip-crackers first, then the flag bearers, then the drums. Dancers who trained for years to earn a place in the line. Elephants under lights, and a procession that grows larger with every night that passes.

It has been held in this form since the eighteenth century. It comes once a year. Then the road empties and the city waits another twelve months.

Take your place on the route, seated, with refreshments to see you through the evening. Afterwards, the Mahaweli, away from the crowd. A deluxe room, a quiet night, and breakfast the following morning.

The Royal Avenue Annual Cricket Tournament 2026 was a day of healthy competition, shared victories and unforgettable moments. Every match reflected the teamwork, resilience and camaraderie that define who we are, both on and off the field.

While one team lifted the trophy, everyone walked away with something greater. Stronger connections, lasting memories and a renewed sense of team spirit.

Before the first ball was bowled, the competition had already begun.

The Royal Avenue Annual Cricket Tournament 2026 kicked off with a live player auction, where each captain selected their squad in the presence of our General Manager, Board of Directors and staff.

Inspired by professional tournaments, the auction brought strategy, excitement and friendly rivalry to the room, while creating an opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen connections and bring our team closer together.

More than a tournament, it was a celebration of unity, teamwork and the people behind Royal Avenue.
