For us safaris are about tracking animals, climbing rocks, trekking, taking a dip alongside the cascading waters inside the jungle river. It’s an amazing wildlife experience in the jungle!
All the Tents are air-conditioned and bathrooms have hot and cold running water with flushable toilets. We have comfortable queen size beds with plush pillows and duvets!
After all that’s why we call it #Glamorous #Camping aka #Glamping!.
You have arrived in the land of spices, but what good is it, if you can’t get to experience it the authentic way? Camp Leopard’s chef, focuses on delivering homemade, mouth watering Sri Lankan delicacies, with locally sourced vegetables and produce, to ensure that you taste “authentic local food”, which is traditionally served on banana or lotus flower leaves. We also serve a four course BBQ.
Interested in cooking? While you are at the Camp , learn how to make some Sri Lankan dishes such as Hoppers with our Camp’s Resident Chef & take home some traditional recipes.
A/C Glamping Tents
Camp Leopard consists of 4 Air- conditioned Glamping Tents facing the Yala National Park with en-suite modern bathrooms with hot/ cold showers.
We keep it at 4 tents to ensure the exclusivity and the personalized service at Camp Leopard.
3 Tents are generally occupied with one double bed (for 2 people) and on triple sharing cases we can provide an additional foldable bed for the third person. However we have a Family Tent that can accommodate 4-6pax Specially for families with Children.

Not the Typical Yala Safari
Yala or Ruhunu National Park is the second largest national park in Sri Lanka , with an area over 100,000 Hectares with its 5 different blocks, a strict nature reserve and 3 sanctuaries.
These blocks differ differ from one to another by vegetation, animal densities and by climate. Yala is home to 44 species of mammals including the “Big 3 of Yala” namely, The Leopard, Sloth Bear and the Elephant, with over 200 species of Resident and Migratory Birds, Reptiles, Insects and more within its scope of flora and fauna topped with culture & history of a kingdom over 2000 years ago.
Camp Leopard borders the National Park off the road to the Katagamuwa entrance of Block 1 which is less crowded, while the Palatupana entrance is deemed to be highly congested. This means that we are off the beaten track! Camp Leopard is 3 km from the sacred city of Kataragama, so provides easy access to Galge Gate for Yala Blocks 3,4 and 5. Kataragama is rich in history and gives us the option to go on other excursions apart from safaris, which includes a visit to the Kataragama temple , Sithulpawwa and Wedahiti Kanda.
Our ranger team is guided and led by Marc, the founder, who actively carries out research on animal profiling while studying the amazing behavior of the Sri Lankan Leopard, which has characteristically evolved from the rest of the leopard species in the world, for the mere fact that it’s the apex predator in the island and Yala has been recognized to have the highest density of leopards in the world.
