Kithulgala has a beautiful setting, with breath-taking scenery of hills that are covered in thick rainforest, which plunge down to the gushing majestic waters of the Kelani River. Kitulgala is a bio-diversity hotspot and has been dubbed the adventure capital of Sri Lanka, with a multitude of excursions and activities from white water rafting, canyoning, jungle treks, waterfall chasing and bird watching to name a few. The Belilena Cave is a historical site located a short trek away from the hotel, a sight of an ancient temple and some of the oldest skeletal remains of man. Set high within the surrounding rock face and reached through a scenic forest trail, this remarkable cave is believed to be one of Sri Lanka’s most important prehistoric sites, with evidence of human habitation dating back thousands of years. Standing within it, you can’t help but feel the scale, stillness, and history of the place all at once.

Our rice and curry spread brings together a selection of locally inspired dishes, with guests choosing between two standouts. The black chicken curry, or kalu pol, is slow roasted with toasted coconut and spices, creating a deep, smoky richness that feels unmistakably Sri Lankan.
