Lanka Yoga is a purpose-built yoga school and retreat venue on Koggala Lake, Sri Lanka. We host immersive 200HR Yoga Teacher Trainings in Synergy Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, alongside retreats run by experienced teachers. Our peaceful lakeside setting, nourishing plant-based food, and eco-conscious design offer the perfect environment for deep practice and learning.

Sri Lanka is getting busier.
After a record year for tourism, the country is aiming for 3 million visitors in 2026 - bringing plenty of opportunity, and a few big decisions along with it. 
The encouraging part is that sustainability, infrastructure and responsible growth are increasingly part of the conversation. 
We’re obviously a very small piece of that. Solar on the roof, less plastic, composting, growing food and collecting waste locally are some of the choices we’ve made at Lanka Yoga. 
More people discovering Sri Lanka is a good thing. We’d just like to see it grow well.

Our next Synergy Retreat starts 23 August.

Six nights on Koggala Lake with dynamic morning flows, restorative evening practices and afternoon workshops exploring movement and mindfulness.

Between practice: three fresh vegan meals each day, one included massage, a sauna + ice bath experience at Ember & Ice, a boat trip across the lake to Temple Island, and plenty of free time to swim, rest or explore the south coast.

After many years keeping Lanka Yoga running, Ruwan has officially retired from full-time work.

Our maintenance man and general fixer of just about everything - painting, woodwork, electrics, water, and whatever else needed figuring out. Usually working on his own, always relaxed, and never needing much instruction.

He loves having his photo taken too.

Ruwan will still be around from time to time, just at a slower pace now.

Thank you for everything, Ruwan. We’ll miss seeing those overalls every day.

A lot of what ends up on your plate starts just a few steps away.
We grow fruit, vegetables and spices here at Lanka Yoga, make our own compost, and return those nutrients back into the garden. It’s a simple cycle that keeps giving.

Our meals are fully vegan, and over the past few years we’ve also introduced more protein-rich dishes to support longer stays, retreats and teacher trainings.

Fresh, colourful, and made to be enjoyed together.
