A Day of Excitement, Teamwork & Unforgettable Memories!

On 13th July 2026, our Inter-Department Cricket Tournament 2026 brought together our incredible team members for a day filled with energy, camaraderie, and friendly competition at the S.D.S. Jayasinghe Grounds, Dehiwala.

A huge congratulations to our Kitchen Department for emerging as the Champions of this year's tournament!

A big round of applause to our Front Office Team for securing the Runner-Up position with an outstanding performance.

Special congratulations to the She Leads Ladies Team for winning the Ladies' Championship, demonstrating exceptional teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship.

A heartfelt thank you to every player, supporter, organizer, and colleague who participated and contributed to making this event a tremendous success. Your enthusiasm, teamwork, and positive spirit made it a truly memorable day for everyone.

Building the Future of Hospitality

On 25th June, we were delighted to welcome students from the University of Vocational Technology, Ratmalana, together with students following Maintenance Engineering I (IL 242) from SLITHM, for an educational familiarization visit to Amari Colombo.

As part of their academic journey, the students gained valuable insights into the hotel's Engineering operations. Our Engineering team, led by Mr. Sujith Thilakarathna, Director Engineering, shared their expertise, providing an engaging overview of the department's day-to-day operations, technical systems, and the vital role Engineering plays in delivering exceptional guest experiences.

At Amari Colombo, we believe that sharing knowledge and creating meaningful learning opportunities is an investment in the future of the hospitality industry. It is always a privilege to inspire and support the next generation of hospitality professionals.

Bringing Fun to Work – Karaoke Evening!

On 26th June, our ACS family came together for a fun-filled Karaoke Tea Time, celebrating our core value of "Bring Fun to Work."

The evening was filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable moments as our team members confidently stepped up to the microphone, showcasing their amazing hidden talents. From amazing performances to cheerful sing-alongs, everyone joined in with great enthusiasm, making it a truly memorable experience.

Serving Kindness This Poson Full Moon Day

Poson, the second most significant Buddhist observance in Sri Lanka, is a time of reflection, compassion, and generosity, a celebration that brings communities together through acts of selfless giving.

Honoring this enduring tradition, Amari Colombo proudly hosted a Poson Dansala, a volunteer-led community food service initiative rooted in the spirit of sharing without expectation. As part of our ongoing commitment to community wellbeing through ONYX for Planet, the team welcomed and served more than 2500 devotees and visitors with heartfelt hospitality.

Led by the hotel manager Mr. Indika Jayawardena, together with the dedicated Amari Colombo team and the ownership of Amari Colombo, the initiative offered freshly prepared traditional refreshments and a signature handcrafted mocktail, providing a welcome moment of comfort and refreshment during the day's celebrations.

More than a gesture of hospitality, the Poson Dansala reflected the values that define both the occasion and our purpose of kindness, compassion, and community. It served as a reminder that meaningful impact is often created through simple acts of generosity that bring people together and strengthen the communities around us.

On 16th June, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students from Nest Academy for an exposure visit to experience hotel operations firsthand.

The visit covered key operational departments including Kitchen, Food & Beverage, Front Office, and Housekeeping, giving them valuable insights into the hospitality industry.

At Amari Colombo, we strongly believe in supporting and developing the future generation of hospitality professionals as part of our social responsibility. This initiative also reflects our core values of Learn & Grow and Create an Impact.

Learning Beyond the Classroom at Basilur Tea Factory-Celebrating International Tea Day 2026

At Amari Colombo, one of our core values is Learn & Grow, and we believe that the most impactful learning experiences happen beyond the walls of a training room.

Part of our F&B team recently had the privilege of visiting Basilur Tea Factory, the premium tea brand proudly served at Amari Colombo. This immersive learning journey provided our team with firsthand exposure to the fascinating process of tea manufacturing, from leaf to cup, as well as valuable insights into tea presentation, tasting and service standards.

The experience allowed our team members to witness the dedication, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that go into creating every package of Basilur Tea before it reaches our guests. More importantly, it empowered them with the knowledge and confidence to present and serve tea with greater passion, authenticity, and expertise. Every participant returned with priceless knowledge, unforgettable memories, and a deeper appreciation for the product they proudly serve every day.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the entire Basilur Tea management team, especially Mr. Hemantha Perera, Director – Sales, and Mr. Raksh*tha Hettiarachchi, Assistant Manager – Sales (Local Market), for their warm hospitality, generosity in sharing their expertise, and commitment to developing the future generation of hospitality professionals.
