"Lovely, relaxing place for a holiday."

My sister and I chose Sankarest for our first visit to Sri Lanka. We are already talking about going back. This is a small family run place with four guest rooms, but we were the only guests as it was rainy season. We didn't mind. We love the tropical rains and enjoyed swimming in the rain. The beach is very near, but we didn't swim there as the seas were rough and not safe, so we were especially glad for the pool. Breakfast was included and we also opted to have dinner here each evening for an additional charge. It was so lovely to know we were going to have a fantastic meal without having to go search for a place to eat each day. Sanka is a tour guide so he took us on outings according to what we wanted to do, and his mother is an amazing cook. We arrived as strangers and left as friends.

Just when I thought it could not get any better..

After two fabulous weeks of travelling in Sri Lanka with Sanka, an accredited tour guide we arrived at Sankarest. The family run villa is welcoming and attentive to your every need.
The rooms are large, sparkling clean with comfortable beds and beautiful wooden decor. The adjoining balcony, where we spent a lot of our time overlooks a large tranquil lagoon full of bird life.
Then there is Senitha's food which is absolutely amazing and undoubtedly the best I ate while in Sri Lanka. Sankarest will always be on my itinerary.

"If you don’t want a cookie cutter experience and love great food this is the place for you."

Amazing food, clean and beautiful rooms and generous hospitality. I will continue to visit in the future.
We spent time on the balcony sipping tea and listening to the family go about their day, listening to Senitha prepare her food and on day trips to the local river and ceremonial occasions at the temple.
Sanka Rest will always be on my itinerary when traveling in Sri Lanka.

Fantastisches Essen, saubere und schöne Zimmer und großzügige Gastfreundschaft. Ich werde auch in Zukunft wiederkommen.

Wir verbrachten Zeit auf dem Balkon, tranken Tee und hörten der Familie zu, wie sie ihren Tag verbringt, hörten Senitha beim Zubereiten ihres Essens zu und machten Tagesausflüge zum örtlichen Fluss und zu zeremoniellen Anlässen im Tempel.

Sanka Rest wird immer auf meinem Reiseplan stehen, wenn ich in Sri Lanka reise.

Booked sankarest villa reading the positive reviews on mm t and it was way more than our expectations right from the property/hospitality/amenities/rooms/breakfast and it was all coz of mr. Sank a and his sweetest family. A definite recommendation. We stayed here for 1 day on our first trip to srilanka and it was so warmth and comfortable just felt like a home and yes we were the first indian/nepalese couple to have stayed here. We really miss this place. We would love to come back to your place once again.

Wundervolles Guesthouse direkt am nördlichen Ortseingang von Kosgoda. Sehr freundliche Familie, fantastisches Essen zu fairen Preisen. Sanka, der Chef, bietet auch Touren an. Bahnhof und Bushaltestelle fußläufig zu erreichen. Schöner Strand wenige Minuten zu Fuß entfernt.

Wonderful guesthouse right at the northern entrance to Kosgoda. Very friendly family, fantastic food at fair prices. Sanka, the boss, also offers tours. Train station and bus stop within walking distance. Beautiful beach just a few minutes walk away.

Der perfekte Start für unsere Sri Lanka Rundreise

Hier haben wir unsere Sri Lanka Rundreise gestartet und haben den perfekten Start erwischt! Wir konnten in dieser wunderschönen, familiengeführten Villa wunderbar entspannen und haben nebenbei noch unfassbar viele wertvolle Informationen über Land und Leute bekommen!
Die Unterkunft ist sehr liebevoll gestaltet und der wunderschöne Garten mit Pool lädt einfach zum Verweilen und Seele baumeln lassen ein.
Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen und ist sehr abwechslungsreich und landestypisch (nach Absprache) gestaltet gewesen. Vielen Dank dafür und die dazugehörigen Erklärungen!
Das Abendessen war grandios und Sunita konnte uns jeden Abend auf‘s neue überraschen mit unzähligen verschiedenen Currys, Fisch und allgemein seafood! Einfach nur herrlich!
Wir sind kilometerweit am traumhaft schönen Strand entlang spaziert und waren ganz alleine- unfassbar schön!!
Vielen Dank für die wunderschöne Zeit, die wir bei euch verbringen durften und wie gastfreundlich und herzlich wir bei euch aufgenommen wurden sind!!

The perfect start for our Sri Lanka tour"

This is where we started our Sri Lanka tour and it was the perfect start! We were able to relax wonderfully in this beautiful, family-run villa and also got an incredible amount of valuable information about the country and its people! The accommodation is very lovingly designed and the beautiful garden with pool invites you to linger and unwind. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired and is very varied and typical of the country (by arrangement). Thank you very much for that and the accompanying explanations! The dinner was fantastic and Sunita was able to surprise us every evening with countless different curries, fish and seafood in general! Simply wonderful! We walked for miles along the beautiful beach and were completely alone - unbelievably beautiful!! Thank you very much for the wonderful time we were able to spend with you and how hospitable and warmly you welcomed us!!
