Located in the small village of Wepathana, in the jungle overlooking the Knuckles Mountains, The Pepper Cottage is a great place for you to relax, unwind and enjoy silence in a traditional Sri Lankan village.
A walk through the area, interacting with the lovely people of Wepathana, giving you a glimpse into their lives. The surroundings are stunning, full of lush green trees where you really have the feeling you are in the 'jungle'. Where monkeys, barking deers and giant squirrels are a common sight.
Various walks of all sorts and sizes right from your doorstep, climping the beautiful Petigala Rock, have a swim at the nearby waterfall or take on adventurous hike into the Knuckels Mountain Range!
Set-up as a community-based guesthouse, you are supporting the local communicty while enjoying your holiday. The pepper plantation and the spice-garden, are looked after by the village farmer who loves whistling and singing Singhalese songs when at work. Food can be prepared by the neighbour and her daughters, who love to come and say hello after they have prepared a delicous Sri Lankan meal for you! The house has been built and is maintated by the village carpenter and mason. We source locally where possible!
