Come eat, stay, drink and play at The Doctor's House in Madiha and explore some of the best waves that the region has to offer! The Doctors House is situated on the south coast of Sri Lanka and we have 4 dorm rooms (3 x 4 bed and 1 x 6 bed), all with shared outdoor bathroom facilities. We also have an amazing bar and restaurant which serves delicious wood - fired pizza's from 1:30 - 9:30pm daily. This 200 year old colonial building has served as an Aryuvedic hospital since it was first built. It has been handed down, generation after generation, through a long line of Aryuvedic doctors, and has been lucky enough to fall into the hands of two young Australians, whom openly admit to having zero experience in hospitality. Our aim is to simply serve good food and drinks whilst having a fun time! This Dutch colonial style building is truly one of a kind. One look at it , leaves you speechless, in saying that, its spooky, yet mysterious looks makes you wonder how many stories it would have to tell. This building was one of very few which survived the 2004 tsunami. The building will retain its original look, as it would be madness to change any aspect of its original image. There has been a focus into the landscaping surrounding The Doctor's House and into keeping as much of the original buildings in their original state (but made comfortable of course). The Doctor's House offers accomodation, a restaurant (with a wood-fired pizza oven), a bar, surfing lessons, board hire, yoga classes and much much more. It is the ultimate hang out for people from all walks of life and the food, drinks & cocktails are the best in the area. Madiha is best described as a vibrant and joyful coastal Sri Lankan town. One cannot overlook the simplicity, yet pure beauty of this small pocket of the world. As secluded as it may seem, it is still no stranger to routine. Whether it’s the local women gathering in the early hours of the morning to make coconut string, or the morning rounds of the curd man: selling fresh buffalo curd off his bicycle. Sunday beach days are also a must see! But one things for sure, it is the locals that make this a magical place. Every hour of the day offers something new to observe and appreciate here, there is never a dull moment. The Doctor’s House steals the attention of anyone who wonders by it. Some have been intrigued enough to enter, take photos and have shown an interest in the new direction the property is taking. We offer dorm style accomodation from 14USD per person (per night), so come hang out and surf in Madiha!!!
