The next destination for the Umandawa group, led by Venerable Siri Samanthabhadra Thero, was the beautiful region of Ladakh—specifically the Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery, and the city of Leh.
Reflecting the ancient Buddhist heritage of the Ladakh region, the colossal and exquisitely crafted golden Buddha statues housed within these monasteries are truly magnificent masterpieces.
Afterward, the group wandered through the vibrant streets and the bustling Leh Market, beautifully adorned with colorful Buddhist prayer flags. There, they took the time to observe and appreciate a variety of local artwork, religious souvenirs, and cultural artifacts.
Having realized the timeless message of liberating the mind, great ancient sages and Bodhisattvas such as Tilopa, Naropa, and Milarepa once graced this beautiful land, and their profound spiritual energy still lingers here today.
Perfectly blending the breathtaking beauty of nature with the serene tranquility of an ancient spiritual heritage, this journey was truly a captivating and soul-soothing experience. ✨

සිරි සමන්තභද්‍ර ස්වාමින්වහන්සේ ඇතුළු පිරිසගේ ලඩාක් සංචාරයේ මීළඟ අදියර ලෙස කාශ්මීරයේ සිට ලඩාක් ලේහ් දක්වා වූ ගමන් මාර්ගයේ සංධිස්ථානයක් වූ කාගිල් හි ඊයේ දින නවාතැන් ගත් අතර ඉන්පසුව "ඩ්‍රාස් මුල්බෙක්" හරහා ලේහ් වෙත අද දින (2026 09 30 )පැමිණියා.

ලෝකයේ දෙවන ශීතලම ජනාවාසය:
රුසියාවේ Oymyakon වලට පසු ලෝකයේ මිනිසුන් ජීවත් වන දෙවන ශීතලම ප්‍රදේශය ලෙස ද්‍රාස් ප්‍රසිද්ධය. ශීත ඍතුවේදී මෙහි උෂ්ණත්වය සෙල්සියස් අංශක -40 ටත් වඩා පහළට වැටේ.

ශ්‍රීනගර්-ලේ (Srinagar-Leh) ප්‍රධාන මහාමාර්ගයේ පිහිටා ඇති මෙම Mulbekh chamba ( මෛත්‍රී බෝසත් ප්‍රතිමාව මෙය අඩි 30 ක පමණ උසැති, තනි ජීවමාන ගල් පර්වතයක (rock-cut) නෙළන ලද අතිවිශාල බෝධිසත්ව ප්‍රතිමාවකි. මූලාශ්‍රවලට අනුව මෙය කුෂාන් රාජවංශයෙහි (කනිෂ්ක රජතුමා) (ක්‍රි.ව. 1 වන සියවස) යුගයට අයත් බව සදහන් වේ.

As the next phase of their Ladakh tour, Ven. Siri Samanthabhadra Thero and his delegation from Sri Lanka stayed overnight yesterday in Kargil—a key transit point on the route from Kashmir to Leh. Today (September 30, 2026), the group traveled through Dras and Mulbekh to arrive in Leh.
Dras (The World's Second Coldest Inhabited Place): Dras is renowned as the second coldest permanently inhabited place on Earth, trailing only Oymyakon in Russia. Winter temperatures here routinely plummet below -40°C.
Mulbekh Chamba (Maitreya Bodhisattva Statue): Located along the Srinagar-Leh highway, this massive 30-foot-tall Bodhisattva is carved directly into a single solid rock face. Historical sources date the carving back to the 1st century CE, during the era of King Kanishka of the Kushan Empire.

වසර 8කට අධික කාලයක් තිස්සේ උමංදාවේ කටයුතු පිළිබඳව අවධානයෙන් සිට ඇති ඇය උමංදාවේ කාබනික කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය, ජාතීන් අතර සංහිඳියාව වෙනුවෙන් සිදු කරන සේවය සහ සමාජය නවීකරණය කිරීම සඳහා උමංදාවෙන් ඉටු කරන මෙහෙවර මහත් සේ අගයනු ලැබුවා.

Miss Asia 2016, Ms. Rashmi Thakur—the Special Representative for Tourism Promotion from Telangana, India—visited Umandawa today.
Having closely followed Umandawa's activities for over eight years, she expressed deep appreciation for its organic agriculture, its dedication to fostering ethnic harmony, and its overarching mission to modernize and uplift society.
To welcome her, a special reception was organized featuring traditional cultural performances. She was treated to a variety of natural foods and beverages, including organically grown grapes, pineapples, mangoes, and guavas produced at Umandawa, alongside other signature culinary offerings unique to the premises.
During the visit, Venerable Siri Samanthabhadra Thero and Ms. Rashmi Thakur engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding future strategies and steps to further promote Sri Lanka's tourism industry. The dance performances for this occasion were contributed by Amaa Dance Studio.

We were delighted to welcome a group of Italian guests to Umandawa Global Buddhist Village as part of a Spiritual and Experiential Tourism Programme.

With a keen interest in Buddhist philosophy, they explored how the timeless teachings of the Buddha can be meaningfully applied to the challenges of modern, busy lives.

The guests were deeply impressed and amazed to witness how Umandawa has transformed and flourished within just a decade—evolving into a vibrant space for spiritual learning, mindful living, sustainable development and harmony with nature.

Their visit was a beautiful exchange of cultures, wisdom and experiences, reminding us that the universal message of the Buddha transcends borders and brings people together in the search for peace, wisdom and inner awakening.
