Upon taking our taxi up the steep and uneven hill to Dewy Cottage, I'll be honest, we were skeptical about how this place would turn out. We had missed our first nights accommodation due to a late train and were worried that our booking was void. We were greeted by a smiling face and assured our booking was still ok, and didn't have to pay for the whole nights accommodation (just a nominal amount to cover the commission of the company we booked through). The room looked out over the entire valley and towels were provided for after the nice hot , double shower. The bed was small, but dressed with clean linen- pleasant enough to recline on and make use of the free wifi. In the morning breakfast was served (fried egg, mixed fresh fruit, toast, jams and some of the regions best tea!). A taxi was waiting for us at the time we had specified we were leaving and we were farewelled with another warm smile. For the US $40 we paid, a comfy bed, a hearty breakfast with a stunning view and a comforting presence were the unique highlights of Dewy Cottage. Basic, but all anyone should really need travelling through the Nuwara Eilya region.
