Studio U, as one of the leading photography studios in the country, the aim is to be established as the main service provider for the photography field of Sri Lanka, in the coming years, specifically in the field of wedding photography. We believe that, the industry f
aces a critical issue of not being developed simultaneously with the introduction of modern technology into the Sri Lankan Photography field. It lacks the infra-structure in accommodating such modern technology. Therefore, our objective of being the main service provider for the field is closely knitted with a crucial issue currently within the field and it could be perceived as a credible resolution in overcoming it. In speaking of lack of infra-structure and services, the concept of Barnhouse Studios were conceived as one complex, one holistic location, architecturally articulated specifically for wedding photography and all services related to the concept of a wedding, within the aspect of photography, provided under one unit. Design Process
The complex is designed under the theme of an Old English Barnhouse, where each element is architecturally crafted in synchronization with the theme. The idea of one holistic photographic location is thus reassured with the strong thematic representation in the form of a Barnhouse. The design and the construction process of the complex strongly adheres to strategies such as recycle, upcycle, and reuse and reduce. The Barnhouse utilizes materials which is abandoned and also easily found in the neighborhood. Wood is used as the main material of construction in promoting flexibility, adaptability and graceful adaptation to its environment with time. The construction is carried out without any harm to the natural terrain, adhering to the existing rhythm of the land. Studio U, holds strong architectural positions about the built environment, being an eminent part of the creative industry. Onsite construction enhances the craftsmanship involved within the process and is never the less a value addition to the entire concept, in terms of architecture. Services

Barnhouse Studios as the main service provider to the entire photography field in the country, it offers any photographer the liberty to visit The Barnhouse Studious with clients, rent or purchase their own Modern Photographic Equipment at the Studios, select their own locations and proceed with the task. The ultimate goal of the Barnhouse Studios is to offer the liberty for the photographers in Sri Lanka, novice or experienced, to walk-in to the premises, even without a camera, fulfill their photography needs under one roof. We hope to carry on a continuous conversation within the Barnhouse Studios inviting all leading photographers and photography studios in the country and convert it into a hub, where the knowhow is shared amongst the photographers of the field. It will be a hotspot where exhibitions, conferences and conventions will be held for all young, novice and experienced photographers. With time, we hope to provide leisure activities such as swimming, jogging and cycling within the complex, in making the complex more user friendly.
