A moment of reflection and unity at our annual Iftar ceremony. We were honoured to welcome leaders from all faiths as we observed the traditions of the Islamic faith together as a Jetwing family.

The evening offered meaningful learning on the significance of fasting, shared customs, and a collective prayer for peace and harmony. In the spirit of togetherness, we celebrate the diverse threads that shape our home in Pottuvil.

A short drive inland from Jetwing Surf & Safari, the Tharulengala Forest Hermitage sits above the surrounding forest, shaped by centuries of devotion, and reveals a different side of the Enchanting East. The path upward moves through shaded woodland and across stretches of rock, with the landscape largely untouched.

From the summit, irrigation tanks peak through stretches of tree cover. It’s a simple, grounding contrast to the shoreline, and a fulfilling addition to your time in the East.

Perched atop a rock just beyond the borders of Kumana National Park, the Kudumbigala Monastery is a place of historical and spiritual importance. Scattered across the surrounding forest are over 200 caves, many still bearing traces of ancient inscriptions and meditation spaces once used by forest-dwelling monks. The climb itself is part of the experience, with a footpath that winds through trees, boulders and fragments of ruins, slowly revealing the landscape below.

For a reflective journey full of history, nature and stories of the past, Kudumbigala offers a moment of stillness well worth the climb.
