As lights dimmed for Earth Hour, our team at Jetwing Surf & Safari gathered under the night sky, taking a moment to reflect on the landscapes we call home. Surrounded by the beauty of the east coast, it was a simple yet meaningful reminder of our shared responsibility to protect and preserve the natural world that shapes every experience here.

A moment of reflection and unity at our annual Iftar ceremony. We were honoured to welcome leaders from all faiths as we observed the traditions of the Islamic faith together as a Jetwing family.

The evening offered meaningful learning on the significance of fasting, shared customs, and a collective prayer for peace and harmony. In the spirit of togetherness, we celebrate the diverse threads that shape our home in Pottuvil.

Imagine a meal in this setting, the view stretching out before you, the steady sound of waves meeting the shore. At Rella, our main restaurant, dining feels naturally in tune with its surroundings, open, relaxed, and refined. It’s a place to sit back and enjoy the simple pleasure of dining by the sea.

A short drive inland from Jetwing Surf & Safari, the Tharulengala Forest Hermitage sits above the surrounding forest, shaped by centuries of devotion, and reveals a different side of the Enchanting East. The path upward moves through shaded woodland and across stretches of rock, with the landscape largely untouched.

From the summit, irrigation tanks peak through stretches of tree cover. It’s a simple, grounding contrast to the shoreline, and a fulfilling addition to your time in the East.

78 years of independence, carried forward by a land that continuesto thrive eith its people.

Here on the edge of the east, where the eaves and the wild converge, we are reminded of what it means to remain rooted, resilient, and free-spirited.

Wishing our motherland a Happy Independence Day!🇱🇰

Perched atop a rock just beyond the borders of Kumana National Park, the Kudumbigala Monastery is a place of historical and spiritual importance. Scattered across the surrounding forest are over 200 caves, many still bearing traces of ancient inscriptions and meditation spaces once used by forest-dwelling monks. The climb itself is part of the experience, with a footpath that winds through trees, boulders and fragments of ruins, slowly revealing the landscape below.

For a reflective journey full of history, nature and stories of the past, Kudumbigala offers a moment of stillness well worth the climb.

One of the east coast’s lesser-known natural treasures, Radella Tank is a living expanse with rich birdlife and a landscape that holds its own story. A rocky outcrop known as Crocodile Rock sits within the tank, where crocodiles gather and rest in the open, as they have for generations.

Raw and unembellished, it remains a haven for wildlife and birding enthusiasts drawn to moments of rare connection with nature.

WELCOME TO JETWING SURF

Ayubowan! (May you live long)

On the eastern edge of our teardrop-shaped island, an uncharted coastline separates our verdant lands from the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean. This harmonious relationship with nature is a story of complementary coexistence, effortlessly brought to life at our cabana resort in Pottuvil Point, a serene hideaway near the celebrated beaches of Arugam Bay.

Our eastern home of Sri Lankan hospitality is a prime example of luxurious eco-tourism in our family, with the bold move of natural ventilation throughout the property and rooms to ensure a minimum carbon footprint. Designed by the upcoming architect John Balmond and inspired by the intricate sea shells that rest upon our unspoiled beaches, natural structures made of wood, woven coconut palm leaves and dried illuk grass welcome you into a truly Sri Lankan environment - named after a world-famous pastime that has drawn travellers to our neighbouring waves for decades.
