We underestimate how much time we spend deciding where to eat, especially on holiday. So, we started happy hour at noon, and now you don’t have to think twice.

Extended lunch happy hour means you can decide whether you're going to be a responsible adult today or not, as early as noon. This is where we often find friends and families spending long hours into the afternoon swapping stories over food, ordering drinks, going for seconds, laughing loud enough to scare crows away, and reconnecting while plopped around a big table or by the pool. Just solid group time, and the .arugambay space has been designed just for that, surrounded by garden paths and the pool.

The Spice Trail Arugam Bay has…(drum roll)... an in-resort gym that lets you melt away your holiday eating guilt in the crisp AC cool.

Because, whether the swell is up or not, whether you feel up for jogging through the tropical heat or not, whether you ever cared for group yoga sessions or not, the option to stretch and exercise well in a private space should be effortless for it to be a holiday you don’t need to recover from.

The Spice Trail gym is open to our guests, and visitors can get a daily or weekly pass; just speak to our resident manager at the front desk and get your private, air-conditioned gym session locked in.

Don’t rely on search or an algorithm to find the best of Arugam Bay. Ask someone from the bay.

No algorithm will clock Friday sushi sets, or could possibly hold information on which Arugam Bay tuk-tuk driver moonlights as a honey forager, or a tour guide just located from a first name with no Google listing. That's the kind of thing you only know if you've spent decades actually living here, asking the right questions over the right amount of arrack-infused conversations.

We can't promise you'll never need a stranger's advice in Arugam Bay. But we can promise that whatever it is you need, whether it’s a sunset surf, a leopard sighting, a picnic spread, or something far stranger that hasn’t even crossed your mind yet, there's someone in our circle who's got it.

The best parts of the East Coast rarely show up on travel spreads or influencer feeds, and that's part of the magic that makes this elusive bay.

You don't have to go far to find it: our own resident restaurant .arugambay (LBK) has teamed up with local musician and surfer for 'Maki & Music with Bande,' every Friday evening. Live music, fresh sushi, and drinks that you might keep ordering on repeat. We also run Happy Hour daily from 6 to 7 PM, just for cocktails at LBK A'bay.

They're our recommended resources for easy riders who want to work with the seasons, lean into the natural swell, and surf as a way to get to know a place.

You wake up slowly in a cool room with good AC and enough sleep. Coffee is close, and it’s the good coffee, not the sad kind you drink purely out of desperation, and it’s just a walk or room-service away (ask about our sister cafe .arugambay with its own little cult following). The pool is a short wander down the garden, barefoot on green grass. The beach is close. Our resident restaurant, .arugambay is open for breakfast, lunch, sunset ramen sessions and cocktails. Food comes when you ask it to. The WiFi works if you need to actually work or pretend to be ‘lightly available’ while very obviously busy on holiday. Spa Therapy sits ready for post-surf recovery or to simply make your tense muscles an expert’s responsibility for an hour.

The point is: you don’t have to overthink your days here. The infrastructure for a good life is already in place, and the choices are easy and within reach.
