Imagine waking up to the sound of birds chirping outside your tent..Then you open your tent flap to one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the central hills..Majestic misty mountains..lush green forest..picturesque tea plantations..crystal clear pond..How relaxing is that thought..?
We have TWO one-of-a-kind campsites.
One is located in the Midland tea estate, by a beautiful pond "Dankanda Lake",within 20 minutes walk from B274 Riverston road at an elevation of 3200 feet. Vehicles with high ground clearance can be reached to the campsite and others are provided a parking lot.
The other one is located 3.5km from Rattota town. It is on a Majestic Rock called Hideout Rock! Vehicles can reach to our shelter " Hideout Rock Base", they can be parked there, there, and you have to hike just 600m to the campsite.
This part of Knuckles is considered as a bio-diversity hotspot.It holds a wide verity of flora and fauna. It is home to many endangered and endamic species.Sambur, barking deer, mouse deer, wild boar, giant squirrel, and slender lorris are some creatures beautify the area.17 out of 26 endamic bird species in Sri Lanka are flying here! Plus it consists of almost one third of the island flowering plant species.
Both sites have close access to must-see destinations such as Babarakiri Ella, Riverston tower lane, Pitawala pathana , Sera Ella, Manigala , Thelgamuwa oya Moragahakanda Dam, Kalugaga Dam , Wasgamuwa National park, Mahiyanganaya, Sembuwattha lake, Kelabokka 360' view point.
