We are honoured to announce that Jetwing Vil Uyana, A Luxury Reserve, has been awarded the prestigious Pacific Asia Travel Association Gold Award for Ecosystem and Wildlife Conservation, in recognition of its contribution to biodiversity restoration and responsible tourism in Sri Lanka over the last two decades.
Built on what was once degraded agricultural land, Jetwing Vil Uyana was envisioned as a pioneering rewilding project that transformed the habitat through the creation of a wetland, reintroduced native flora, and created a thriving sanctuary for wildlife. Over the years, this commitment to ecological restoration has nurtured the landscape into a rich and diverse ecosystem, demonstrating how tourism and conservation can successfully coexist. The sanctuary offers an immersive luxury experience within a carefully restored natural environment, providing guests with a rare opportunity to engage with Sri Lankaās rich biodiversity while enjoying legendary Sri Lankan hospitality.
The award particularly applauded the significant increase in biodiversity recorded through rapid biodiversity assessments conducted in 2005 and 2025, which highlighted the remarkable ecological recovery of the area and the return of numerous species across fauna. These findings underscore the long-term impact of our conservation efforts and reaffirm Jetwing Vil Uyana's role as a benchmark for nature-positive tourism in Sri Lanka and the region.
