Our Story

Roo Mansala, or “alluring abode” is located in Sigiriya, the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle.

With mesmerising views of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the Pidurangala Rock, Roo Mansala offers peaceful seclusion of the lush, fertile plains where ancient kings dwelt, duelled, and sought refuge. The unique architecture of the hotel, reminiscent of the ancient architecture of the Rock Fortress, blends the marvels of Sigiriya, with modern boutique living. Roo Mansala is a refuge to all seasonal travellers offering a unique, personalised, hospitality experience in an eco-friendly setting.

Inception

Roo Mansala began as an idea of two ambitious lovers of Sri Lankan hospitality. It is the brain child of Chammika Withanage and Amitha Weerakoon. Being amateur historians, they take pride in Sri Lanka’s history and the the island’s unique cultural heritage. One of the founding principles of Roo Mansala was to blend nature, heritage, and history.

We, at Roo Mansala, take immense pride in our 2500-year-old recorded history and illustrious heritage. Located adjacent to the 8th wonder of the world, we are deeply conscious of the legacy, culture, and ancestry that has been passed from generation to generation handed down from our ancestors.

We are located at the heart of the “Cultural Triangle”

Roo Mansala is perfectly positioned at the heart of the cultural triangle at the centre of Sri Lanka. We are within striking distance (1 km) from the UNESCO world heritage site: Sigiriya Rock Fortress, and the Pidurangala rock. All the significant historical sites of Sri Lanka are easily accessible from our location.

Architecture

Roo Mansala is a homage to ancient architecture of Sri Lanka. It is an immersive experience that is reminiscent of the ancient architecture and the ruins of Sigiriya Rock Fortress and its kingdom. The modern, uncluttered interior design, with artfully designed bedroom units, and the pool combine to create a charming result which will attract all manner of visitors.
