Coconut

Coconut Coconut plates up an eclectic and intriguing mixture of flavours that flirt with both western and eastern palates. Fusion-fare is Coconut’s forte.

Coconut Restaurant at Cantaloupe Aqua is a feast for your senses, and our menu will tease your taste buds with a selection of Western, Asian fusion and Thai cuisine, including plenty of ocean fresh fish and seafood. Blessed with spectacular views of the turquoise ocean, our beachfront restaurant in Galle is open all day for drinking, grazing and dining. Inside, tables sit beneath colour pop photog

raphs of Sri Lanka whilst at night tables spill onto an elevated deck, open to the skies and the sea breezes, which feels like the hull of a boat. To one end of the restaurant is an infinity plunge pool and a bar serving Galle’s best cocktails, and upstairs is a deck for romantic alfresco private dining. Nandana, Cantaloupe Hotels and Coconut’s Executive Chef, who returned after completing a culinary course at the world famous, Blue Elephant Cooking School, is always busily preparing some delectable dish for the Coconut Restaurant guests. Coconut’s food philosophy and culinary style is extremely simple but never fails to impress, any one of its dishes will have sentiments from at least two nations of the world. When describing Chef Nandana’s technique, the characteristically shy Chef, becomes vividly animated by his passion. Our guests are constantly in an exciting state of anticipation, awaiting the next surprise he will turnout. Coconut prides itself in serving the finest and freshest of local produce and ingredients.

-ekamuthu-kama is the Sinhalese word for a sense of unity. We decided to create a new culinary platform through Ekamuthu.

At Cantaloupe & CO we place great emphasis on celebrating our nations ethnic diversity and unity which we express in as many ways as we can; from our HR policy to representing all races through their colours in our Hotel Branding.

Our culinary team has now come up with an innovative way to show case our ethnic diversity through our cuisine with Ekamuthu Kema. Ekamuthu Kema is a multi cultural culinary feast served on a long banana leaf. The banana leaf has been used by many different cultures as a serving medium from Sinhalese, Muslim, Tamil and even the Dutch inspired Lamprais. The Banana leaf creates the platform of unity and presents varieties of meats, vegetables, and carbs prepared in different styles and presented beautifully on a long banana leaf.

The whole idea of Eka-Muthu is to mix and match different culinary styles which are all paired to compliment each other.

Our Island’s culinary diversity presented on a banana leaf.
