Which airports will operate?
Bandaranaike International Airport [BIA], Colombo Ratmalana Airport [RMA] and Mattala Rajapaksa Hambantota Airport [MRIA] will arrive for tourists from 1 August 2020
What are the visa procedures?
All travellers need a valid visa; it will be issued for 30 days and can be extended to 6 months after arrival. Online visa at http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/
Further relaxation for guests staying long is currently being considered, allowing tourists to receive five-year visas for multiple arrival with a maximum stay of 6 months.

Where can I stay and is there a minimum duration?
A minimum stay of 5 nights in Sri Lanka is required.
Independent professional audits will be carried out to certify accommodation providers listed on the tourist website of Sri Lanka. Details of bookings made with certified accommodation providers are required for visa application
Before departure Covid-19 PCR test
A negative PCR test is required before boarding your flight and on arrival in Sri Lanka. The test must not be over 72 hours before boarding.
On arrival in Sri Lanka
The airport will take very intensive remediation measures for all areas and staff.
There is no quarantine on arrival unless symptoms are detected.
On arrival at the airport, a PCR test would be carried out. No expenses.
Currently it takes 24 hours to receive the test results. We're making changes to have results within to six hours in August. In case it has to wait 24 hours for test results; you can select a hotel for a stay of one night at certified 4 or 5 star hotels in Colombo or Negombo until the test results are received.
A further test will be carried out 4-5 days after arrival by a mobile unit in consultation with your certified accommodations provider.
Travelers staying longer than 10 days shall take a third test during their stay. Although this can be difficult, it is essential to protect everyone and offer peace of mind.
In case of a positive PCR result, quarantine will take place in a designated hotel or hospitalization, depending on the details of the case. The quarantine would usually take 14 to 21 days if symptoms are detected.
Moving in Sri Lanka
The airport will take very intensive remediation measures for all areas and staff.
To ensure your safety, you must arrange transport before your arrival with your certified accommodation provider or travel agent. Public transport must not be used.
All tourist sites are open from August 1th with safety protocols and measures to guarantee the well-being of our travellers.
There are no travel restrictions between districts for tourists.
What is the status of Sri Lanka with COVID-19?
As an island, Sri Lanka managed to control the spread of the virus thanks to the proactive measures. There have been no active community chandeliers within the past 30 days.
