A proud and historic moment for Jungle Beach an Uga Experience!

Ishara Madushani has successfully qualified for the finals of the 31st National Bartenders Competition, competing against contestants from some of Sri Lanka's most reputed hotels.

This is the first time in the history of Jungle Beach that a team member has been selected for the finals of this prestigious competition.

At Jungle Beach, the main restaurant offers a 75-cover dining space serving a curated selection of local and international cuisine, thoughtfully prepared with a contemporary touch. The palette speaks restraint: white-washed beams against dark rustic wood, crisp linens, colourful cushions in olive and teal that echo the gardens visible beyond the open edge.

The restaurant opens completely to manicured lawn, then wilder coastal scrub, then, just visible beyond, the suggestion of beach and ocean of the East Coast.

This World Ocean Day, we reaffirmed our commitment to protecting the marine ecosystems that are vital to Sri Lanka’s natural heritage and the future of sustainable tourism.

At Jungle Beach an Uga Experience, guests and team members came together for an awareness session exploring local marine biodiversity, the environmental challenges it faces, and the importance of conservation. Meanwhile, Uga Chena Huts took part in a beach clean-up initiative at Kirinda Beach alongside teams from Hilton Yala, Cinnamon Wild Yala, and Jetwing Yala, bringing together around 70 participants in a collective effort to protect our oceans and preserve the beauty of our coastline.

From raising awareness to taking direct action, these initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and a healthier future for our marine ecosystems.

On May 5th, members of the Uga Jungle Beach team visited T/T/Al Hamra Maha Vidyalayam to donate 100 durable chairs for the school’s historic auditorium, supporting over 440 students within the local community. With an investment of Rs. 250,905.00, this initiative was undertaken to help improve the infrastructure needed for a better learning environment and more comfortable shared spaces for students.

It was a privilege to witness the new seating being used immediately during the school assembly, transforming the auditorium into a more dignified and functional space for workshops, performances, and ceremonies. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of the communities around us.

Huge congratulations to Ms. Ishara Madushani from Uga Jungle Beach on securing second place in the Classic category at the National Bartenders Competition for the Cultural Triangle and East Coast region, competing among 35 talented participants.

With this outstanding achievement, she has earned her place in the semi-finals in Colombo, marking a historic milestone for Uga as the first female bartender from our team to reach this stage of the National Bartenders Competition.

We are incredibly proud of Ishara for her dedication, talent, and passion, and we look forward to cheering her on as she continues this remarkable journey.
