Hi, I’m Prashan. My family and I have lived here for around 30 years, surrounded by sugarcane fields and the river, just outside Udawalawe, Sri Lanka.
Getting here is part of the experience. You leave the main road, drive through the sugarcane fields and follow a small dirt road until you reach our riverside home. There are no busy streets or crowds here just nature, birds, peacocks, the river and the countryside.
Because we live close to nature, wildlife is part of everyday life. You might see peacocks, rabbits, wild pigs, jackals or even a gecko inside your room. 😊 Nothing unusual for us .

We opened River Paradise Safari House so travelers can experience a more personal and authentic side of Sri Lanka.

After dinner, explore the countryside at night through villages, sugarcane fields, rice fields and bush areas, looking for the animals that become active after dark.
And between all the experiences, you can simply slow down, sit by the river and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
