Sri Lanka Tourism Status Update - 04 December 2025 (10:00 AM)
Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues to operate smoothly, with all major sites and destinations welcoming visitors.
✔ Tourism Attractions
Wildlife parks including Yala (all gates), Udawalawa, Bundala, Kumana, Horton Plains, Wilpattu, Minneriya, Kawudulla and Wasgamuwa are open.
Marine attractions such as Pigeon Island, Mirissa and Kalpitiya whale watching, and Hikkaduwa Coral Park are open.
All Cultural Fund sites and museums are fully open.
All Forest Department sites are open except Knuckles.
✔ Weather & Occupancy in Key Tourist Zones
Sunny weather and strong hotel occupancy reported in Unawatuna , Negombo, Kalutara, Passikudah, Hikkaduwa, Bentota/ Beruwela, Arugam Bay and normal conditions in Ella with full access via Wellawaya.
✔ Road & Rail Access
Road access to all major tourism routes remains fully accessible, including Colombo-Kandy (A1), Kurunegala-Padeniya and Kitulgala-Hatton/ Nuwara Eliya.
Coastal Line trains are running normally.
Main Line services operate between Colombo-Mirigama and Colombo-Abepussa.
✔ Fuel & Electricity
Fuel distribution is smooth across the country except for minor limitations in Kaduwela.
Electricity has been restored in all main cities, with final work ongoing in isolated areas.
Sri Lanka remains open, stable and ready to welcome travellers.
