Market in the city

Held twice-weekly in the very heart of the city on Place Guillaume II, the Stater Maart has something for everyone: regional, seasonal and organic products, flowers and plants, fruits and vegetables, fish, meat, baked goods, roast chicken, pasta, cheeses, and all kinds of other artisanal products.

It also includes a food village offering a range of delicious dishes every Wednesday and Saturday from 10:30 to 14:00 through to the end of October 2024.

About Summer in the City
Join us for an exceptional summer in Luxembourg City with the new edition of “Summer in the City” 2026, running from 12 June to 18 September.

Discover a vibrant atmosphere with open-air concerts, fascinating exhibitions, exciting theatre performances, shopping opportunities, and many other cultural and tourism experiences.

Dive into the city’s rich history with the mysterious Bock Casemates and the Pétrusse Casemates.

Open House at the Slate

The Slate Museum in Haut-Martelange will open its doors on Sunday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free, and visitors are invited to explore this unique collection.

Discover the fascinating world underground at the Haut-Martelange Slate Museum! Experience the history and techniques of slate extraction and immerse yourself in the new, fascinating "Johanna" visitor gallery. Experience the everyday life of slate workers at first hand!
Experience an exciting journey back in time to the slate industry of the 20th century. In the slate museum, a museum facility awaits you that gives a complete picture of this more than 200-year-old activity. Discover the path of the slate stone, from its formation and its extraction underground to the finished product and its transport. Explore the working conditions of the slate miners and get a vivid picture of the everyday world.
Entry to the site is free and various animations (ride on the industrial train, Bopebistro, Detektive Schuppi,...) are available.

Often referred to as Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland, the Mullerthal Region - or Mëllerdall in Luxembourgish – owes its name to its hilly landscape reminiscent of Switzerland. The region is above all a unique biotope characterized by sandstone rock formations which are as beguiling as surprising. It is the unique composition of the rock and soil erosion that have contributed to the creation of this landscape so typical for the region. The diverse natural and geological heritage makes the region so special. In 2022, the Natur- & Geopark Mëllerdall became part of the international network of the UNESCO Global Geoparks. The combination of nature and geopark speaks for the special meaning and protection of the landscape. Today, Luxembourg's Little Switzerland attracts tourists from near and far away.

As "capital" of the Mullerthal Region, Echternach is the oldest town in Luxembourg. The famous Hopping Procession of Echternach is part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage. Among the major tourist attractions of the city are the Abbey Museum, the Roman Villa, the Basilica of Saint Willibrod or the cultural centre Trifolion.

The Mullerthal Trail takes the experienced hiker on 112 km of valley trails through a magnificent rocky landscape. The rock formations are dotted with difficult sounding names - Piteschkummer, Geierslee or Huel Lee, to name only a few. The footpaths of the Mullerthal Region - Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland lead through fields and forests into the heart of a natural setting that is almost intact. Besides the demanding hiking routes of the Mullerthal Trail the region offers a network of pleasant local hikes amidst breathtaking panoramas.

GUTTLAND

The idyllic Guttland region in central Luxembourg welcomes visitors with lush meadows, gently curving roads and the characteristic Valley of the Seven Castles.

Guttland is a green paradise in the centre of the country, offering nature-lovers lush green meadows, exceptional views and rural villages. Relax and wander through Guttland’s characteristic Valley of the Seven Castles and then visit and admire the buildings that bear witness to Luxembourg's rich history. Wander through the gardens of Ansembourg Castle, with its many plants, fruit trees, terraces and fountains that inspire respect and serenity.

Cyclists can also cross the region, notably on the Attert cycle path, a former railway line between Belgium and the Grand Duchy. A hike along the Alzette valley path will take you through through the rose garden of Walferdange and the orchards of the farms that have shaped this region rich in scents and flavours. Immerse yourself in a region that promises myriad delights and a standing invitation to relax and wind down.

CLERVAUX

Located in the middle of the Éislek region, the city of Clervaux is a frequently visited location. Lovers of historical architecture will get their money's worth here: the town is dominated by the large Benedictine abbey St Maurice, the parish church Sts Côme et Damien and a castle from the 12th century. Restored after its destruction in World War 2, the castle now houses three permanent exhibitions: The world-famous photo exhibition "The Family of Man", which is part of the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage, the Museum of models of the Castles and Palaces of Luxembourg and the Museum of the Battle of the Bulge. Also, the city's pedestrian zone with its small shops, cafés and terraces invites you to shop and relax. Clervaux Castle is perched on the slopes of a rocky promontory above the city. Its origins date back to the 12th century. After its entire destruction on December 17th 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge in the Second World War, the government of Luxembourg acquired the castle and restored it completely.
