The Serai turns from building site into a home for the Scottish side of the family's visit, and then back into building site the moment they leave. But for those few days we can take a breather, enjoy the market and a local spring, the beach (suddenly devoid of sand after a recent storm) and a garden full of wildflowers. The children also get some quality time with a rarely seen Granny, and vice versa. Join our cause at www.theserai.org. All welcome!!

After 18 hours of 90kph winds it's carnage in our courtyard. Oh well, back to the drawing board; a cane roof doesn't work here, but at least we don't have to engineer for the occasional hurricane! Meanwhile inside, a tiny inspector critiques Dad's work.

Apparently this is the biggest thatched roof in Morocco. Personally I doubt that, but the thatcher was horrified at it's...

Apparently this is the biggest thatched roof in Morocco. Personally I doubt that, but the thatcher was horrified at it's size when I brought him and his thatch from the north. In fact he was too afraid to go to the top and had to call in his son to take over. Rain is forecast for next week so we'll see if it's waterproof as well as looking super cool.
