Glory & War Tour

New great day in Transnistria / Pridnestrovie with John and Lindsay from Wales, together with Jack and Alex from the USA.

John and Lindsay are experienced travellers who love authentic places and getting off the beaten track. Jack and Alex, students from leading American universities, share the same adventurous spirit — they study languages, travel extensively and are always eager to explore places that many tourists just skip.

Together we explored the highlights of Tiraspol, crossed the Dniester on the old military ferry, visited the beautiful Kitskany Monastery, had a snack at the monastery café and continued to Bender with its impressive fortress and many military memorials.

And of course, no visit to Transnistria would be complete without holy golubtsi, zamorskaya ikra (zucchini caviar) and a proper Soviet-style borshch in a classic USSR canteen СТОЛОВАЯ СССР .

As always - unplanned- the highlight of the day? Celebrating Alla’s birthday — a true local legend who has been saving the souls of weary pilgrims for years, one carefully measured glass at a time 🍷🍹🍺 Yes, we love KVAS as well ;-)

Cycling Red Streets in Tiraspol with Walerie from the Netherlands.

Today we explored Tiraspol on two wheels — from the busy central market and Lenin monument to the Tank Monument, Memorial of Glory and many other iconic Soviet landmarks.

We cycled along 25th October Street, talked about the Soviet past and modern-day Transnistria, stopped for tea, coffee and traditional kvass, and simply enjoyed a great day discovering one of Europe’s most unusual capitals. “It was surprisingly unexpected coincidence that medical education is our common background 🤝💚” - Dmitri Gavrilov

A special surprise was that Walerie speaks excellent Russian, which made our conversations even more interesting and allowed us to dive deeper into the history, culture and everyday life of this unique region.

Sometimes the best way to discover a city is slowly, by bike ( main road is not the best choice as local drivers keen not to respect weely ‼️⚠️

Cecilia is not only a professional tour guide working with a major international travel company, but also a truly wonderful person — a thoughtful companion, an engaging conversationalist, and simply a pleasure to host.
