The installation of more than 40 monuments and sculptures in Skopje—in just one night from 7th to 8th of April 2014—is a world record set recently by the authorities in North Macedonia!
Photos by Gordana i Biljana

It is unlikely that any other country in the world will be found to be so thoroughly preoccupied with monuments.

In just one night, 42 monuments and statues were placed in the strict center of Skopje. Under the strictest conspiracy and the cover of darkness, five monuments, each weighing several dozen tons, were mounted onto pedestals. An additional 37 bronze statues were placed on newly constructed bridges over the Vardar River and in open spaces. Beyond any doubt, a unique world record has been achieved in the rapid deployment of monuments per square meter.

The Background of the Project

The monuments and statues distributed in this "blitzkrieg" operation are part of the controversial "Skopje 2014" project. Its implementation, which began three years ago, has completely altered the city's appearance. The center of Skopje has been changed to such an extent that even its residents barely recognize it. The most bitter opponents of the project avoid the city square—once a favorite promenade for the citizens of Skopje—in a wide circle.

The dominant feature of the project is the monument to Alexander the Great, about 30 meters high, placed in the middle of the central city square.

We show you just a part of numerous monuments, limited by 20 photos. To see all of them you need to visit Skopje, and be sure that you have enough space on your memory card😀

Our Barbados adventure started at the very spot that put this island on the modern global map—Rihanna Drive. 🎶

Walking through the street where a global icon grew up is a vibe of its own. Every house is beautifully kept and freshly painted, clearly ready for the curious eyes of travelers. The neighbors are incredibly kind and happy to chat. To them, Rihanna isn't just a star; she is their ambassador, their neighbor, and their most precious diamond. 💎

After passing her primary school, a short walk led me straight into the soul of Bridgetown—Swan Street. This pedestrian zone is buzzing with energy and lined with shops, offering a true taste of the local rhythm. 🛍️

Swan Street is conected with the Central Square and Parliament Buildings standing tall as historic landmarks.
The Nidhe Israel Synagogue, one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere.
The UNESCO-listed Old Harbour along Princess Alice Highway. ✨

Just past the historic port, the magic of Carlisle Bay begins. The famous pink beaches here are simply divine! We spent our time at The Boatyard, popular for its boat tours to see the sea turtles. And yes, we finally saw them! Swimming alongside these graceful creatures was a core memory in the making. 🐢🌊

A quick tip for my fellow travelers: Barbados is definitely not a budget destination—it’s among the most expensive in the Caribbean. However, you truly get what you pay for. It is arguably the safest and most popular island for a reason. The people are warm, the atmosphere is secure, and the nature... well, the photos speak for themselves. 🇧🇧

This iconic passage in Puerto Plata, known globally as the "Pink Street," carries over a century of history and a legacy of early Caribbean hospitality.
Photos by Gordana

The street is named after Victoria Gertrude de Bourbon, affectionately known as Doña Blanca. In the late 19th century, she arrived in Puerto Plata from Europe with her husband, Isidoro Bianchi. Together, they founded the Hotel Europa, one of the city's very first hotels. Doña Blanca became a symbol of elegance and a pioneer of the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic long before the world knew it as a vacation paradise.

For over 100 years, this was a traditional Victorian alleyway in the heart of the Casco Histórico. Its modern identity was born in 2014 during a major urban revitalization project by the Ministry of Tourism. The decision to paint the entire street—walls, benches, and floor—in a striking magenta pink was a strategic move to highlight the white Victorian architectural details and create a visual tribute to the passion and grace of Doña Blanca herself.

Since its renovation, it has evolved into one of the most photographed spots in the Caribbean, bridging the gap between colonial heritage and modern travel culture.
Highly recommend🤩

The Icon of Teide: Roque Cinchado 🇮🇨
Photos by Gordana and Biljana.

If you’re visiting Teide National Park, you simply cannot miss this geological masterpiece. Standing tall against the backdrop of Spain’s highest peak, Roque Cinchado is far from your average rock formation.

Known locally as the "Arbol de Piedra" (Stone Tree), its unique, top-heavy shape is the result of thousands of years of wind and rain erosion. The softer layers at the base wore away faster than the harder rock on top, creating a silhouette that looks like it’s defying gravity! ⏳💨

Why it’s a must-visit:

💵 Budget Friendly: Entry to this natural wonder is completely free!

🅿️ Convenient: There is a large, designated parking area right at the site, making it super easy to access.

☕ Perfect Pitstop: There is a restaurant and café directly across from the rocks (at the Parador), where you can grab a coffee or a meal with a view of the volcano.

📸 Historical View: This exact spot was so iconic it was even featured on the old Spanish 1,000-peseta banknote.

📍 Location: Roques de García, Teide National Park, Tenerife.

🥾 Pro Tip: Park your car and take the 3.5km circular trail for views of the rocks from every angle!

Welcome to Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote—a landscape so surreal, NASA used it to train Apollo astronauts for moon landings! 🌑✨

Photos and video by Gordana and Biljana.

🌑 The Land of Fire and Ash

Walking (or driving) through Timanfaya feels like stepping into a sci-fi movie. This "Martian" landscape was created by massive volcanic eruptions between 1730 and 1736 that changed the face of the island forever. Today, it’s a protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where the earth still breathes.

🔥 Why It’s Mind-Blowing:

Geothermal Magic: Even though the last eruption was in 1824, the ground just 10cm below your feet can reach 277°C! At 13 meters deep, it hits a staggering 610°C.

The Fire Pit: At the Islote de Hilario, guides demonstrate this raw power by dropping dry brush into a pit—it ignites instantly! They even pour water into tubes, creating "artificial geysers" that blast steam into the sky. 💨

El Diablo Restaurant: Designed by the legendary César Manrique, this circular restaurant features a giant grill that uses nothing but the volcano’s natural heat to cook your meal. It’s the ultimate BBQ experience! 🥩🌋

📸 Tips for Your Visit:

The "Guagua" Tour: To protect the fragile ecosystem, you can't hike freely in most areas. Your entry fee includes a bus tour (the Ruta de los Volcanes) through the heart of the craters. Pro tip: Sit on the right side of the bus for the best panoramic views! 🚌

Avoid the Crowds: Arrive early (before 10 AM) or late (after 3 PM) to avoid the long line of cars and the midday heat. ⏰

The Devil’s Symbol: Look out for the "El Diablo" statue at the entrance—it was designed by Manrique and has become the iconic symbol of the park. 👹

If you’re heading to Gran Canaria, you have to drive up into the Barranco de los Palmitos valley near Maspalomas. It’s home to Palmitos Park, and honestly, it’s one of the island’s biggest highlights for a reason.

The scale of this place is wild—it’s a massive subtropical oasis with over 1,000 palm trees and around 200 different species of animals and birds. It’s easily the most popular park on the island, and you really need a full day (at least 4 to 5 hours) to see everything without rushing.

But the real magic? The shows. ✨

The Birds of Prey show blew me away. Seeing massive eagles and falcons soaring right over your head with the rugged mountains as a backdrop is just incredible. The speed and precision of the hawks are next level—you really feel the power of nature there. 🦅

And then, there’s the Dolphin show. It’s set in a stunning amphitheater, and watching these intelligent creatures interact is just pure joy. It’s easily one of the best dolphin presentations I’ve ever seen—so graceful and impressive. 🐬

Whether you're there for the thousands of exotic plants or the wildlife, the atmosphere in that valley is something special.

Pro tip: Get there early to catch the first bird show, and wear comfortable shoes because you’ll be doing a lot of walking to see all 👟☀️

Miradouro de São Cristóvão is one of the most iconic Instagram locations on Madeira.
Photos and videos by Gordana and Biljana

While many people see these breathtaking shots of rugged cliffs on their feed, getting here requires a bit of local know-how.

One of the most important things to know is that this location is only accessible to cars and minivans. Large tour buses simply cannot navigate the narrow, winding descent, which makes visiting as part of a private tour or a small rental car even more special. It keeps the spot feeling a bit more intimate, even when it’s trending!

The turn-off from the ER101 near Boaventura is a true Madeira experience. The road is steep and narrow. There is free parking right at the heart of the viewpoint, allowing you to step out and immediately face the vastness of the Atlantic.

Perched on the edge of these 200-meter-high cliffs, the scale is dizzying. Below, a wild pebble beach stretches out against the crashing surf. While the powerful northern currents mean this isn't a swimming spot, the view of the white foam against the dark stones is absolutely hypnotic.

Beyond the "perfect shot," there’s a lovely atmosphere here. With a panoramic café and a local shop, it’s the ideal place to pause. We grabbed a coffee, sat on the terrace, and watched the mist roll over the green peaks of the north coast.🌿🌊

If you’re visiting Lanzarote, you simply cannot miss the chance to see the "Fire Mountains" from the back of a camel. We just did this, and honestly, it was one of the highlights of our trip! 🐫✨

Why it’s so special

Unlike traditional desert treks, this happens in the heart of Timanfaya National Park. You are literally riding across solidified lava fields, surrounded by a sea of dormant volcanoes.

The Experience

The ride is a peaceful, rhythmic 30-minute journey. You join a caravan of camels that slowly climbs the slopes of a volcanic hill. Reaching the top gives you a breathtaking perspective of the rugged, hilly terrain before the caravan loops back down to the base. It’s gentle, scenic, and surprisingly relaxing!

Why are there camels in Lanzarote?

You might wonder what these desert animals are doing on a volcanic island. Camels (specifically dromedaries) were brought to the Canary Islands from Africa in the 1400s. Historically, they were the "tractors" of Lanzarote—essential for agriculture and carrying heavy loads across the harsh volcanic soil. Today, they are a protected and beloved part of the island’s heritage.

📝 Plan Your Visit

Cost: A very fair €11 per person.

Working Hours: The Echadero de Camellos (Camel Center) is generally open from 09:00 to 15:00 (it’s best to go early to beat the heat and the crowds!).

Facilities: The center is great! There is plenty of parking, a cafe for a quick snack, toilets, and a souvenir shop.

Bonus: Don’t skip the small museum on-site—it’s a great way to learn about the history of these amazing animals on the island.

Highly recommend this if you want a true taste of Lanzarote’s unique spirit! 🇮🇨🌋

Two weeks ago, I had the chance to visit Poema del Mar in Las Palmas, and I am still reeling from the experience.
Photo and video by Gordana

My first photo shows the "Deep Sea" exhibit—a breathtaking, 36-meter curved window (the largest in the world!) that makes the glass feel invisible. But that was just the beginning.

To truly appreciate this place, you need to set aside 3 to 4 hours. It’s not a place to rush; it’s a place to linger. The layout is incredibly thoughtful, with plenty of rest areas where you can just sit in silence and watch the marine life glide by. It’s like a living meditation.

🚇 The Magic of the Tunnels

One of the absolute highlights—and a favorite for all the children there—are the walk-through tunnels.
A bigger transparent tube have sharks and massive rays soar and majestic Sea Turtles paddling gracefully above you 🐢
These tunnels are the ultimate photo spots; but visitors cooperate and help each other to catch the best photo shots.

🌿 Three Worlds, One Poem

The aquarium is divided into three chapters:

The Jungle 🌿: A tropical trek through humid forests where we saw the "baby dragons"—the Olm (Human Fish)—and the powerful Electric Eels.

The Reef 🪸: A vibrant volcanic cylinder where Clownfish (Nemo) and Blue Tangs (Dory) dart through living corals.

The Deep Ocean 🌌: The grand finale with the curved wall and the giants of the sea.

🍴 Rest and Refuel

Between the exhibits, there are two restaurants and cafes where you can grab a bite while still enjoying the view. You can find also a small laboratory and a shop.

🧬 Beauty with a Purpose

Beyond the spectacle, Poema del Mar (through the Loro Parque Fundación) is a leader in conservation. They are actively saving endangered seahorses and researching the recovery of vulnerable rays.

Highly recommend🙂

🤠 The Ultimate Wild West Christmas at Sioux City.
Photos and videos by Gordana.

We spent an unforgettable day at Sioux City Park in Maspalomas, and it was pure magic. Our little princess was absolutely captivated—she was glued to the action from the moment we arrived at 10 AM until the final dusty standoff at 3 PM! 👸🏼⭐ Seeing her joy during the shows made this Christmas unforgettable.

🎬 A Real Hollywood Legacy: This isn't just a replica; it was built in 1972 as a fully functional movie set for the Western film Take a Hard Ride. When you walk these streets, you are walking where Hollywood legends like Lee Van Cleef and Jim Brown once filmed!

🏘️ Total Immersion: Unlike many parks that use flat "facades," Sioux City is a 3D town. Every building is real and functional—from the Sheriff’s office (complete with a jail) to the bank, the blacksmith, and the authentic wooden Saloon where you can actually grab a drink.

🐎 The Spirit of the Frontier: The park captures the soul of the American West right in the volcanic "Cañón del Águila" of Gran Canaria. The rugged, desert-like terrain makes it the most authentic Western location in Europe.

🎭 Action-Packed Realism: We were blown away by the live shows! We witnessed a high-stakes bank robbery, a dramatic hanging (don't worry, the stunts are incredible!), and a hilarious saloon brawl. The highlight for us was the precision of the horse riders.

🐾 Hidden Gems: Beyond the cowboys, we loved visiting the animal farm.

It was a day of dusty trails, hero outlaws, and huge smiles. If you’re in Maspalomas, this is an absolute must for a family adventure that feels like traveling back in time. 🌵🏜️

Poris de la Cindarela is a place where gravity seems like a suggestion and the Atlantic Ocean is the only neighbor. 🌊🧗‍♂️
Photos and videos by Gordana.

Hidden deep within the rugged cliffs of Tijarafe on the island of La Palma, this surreal "cave village" is a masterpiece of human persistence. While it’s recently become a viral sensation for being the ultimate Instagram location, its roots go much deeper than a photo op.

A Village Carved into the Cliffs (Circa 1900s) ⏳ These picturesque houses weren't built for tourists; they were developed in the early 20th century by local families. Before modern roads existed, these "Poris" (natural ports) were the lifeblood of the island. This was where goods were traded, fish were salted, and the "Isla Bonita" connected with the rest of the world by sea.

The Smuggler’s Secret 🏴‍☠️ History tells us these cliffs held more than just fish. Because the terrain was so vertical and inaccessible from land, Poris de la Cindarela was a legendary haven for smugglers. Under the cover of the massive stone arches, goods like to***co, sugar, and coffee were secretly unloaded far from the watchful eyes of tax authorities.

The Descent: Earn the View 🛑 Don’t let the aesthetic photos fool you—reaching this hidden gem is a workout:
The Route: The total path down is a steep 3.3 km.

The Logistics: You can drive the first 3 km, but the final 300 meters must be tackled on foot.

The Safety Rule: The terrain is incredibly steep and can be very slippery. Sturdy sneakers or hiking boots are mandatory if you want to avoid a dangerous slide.

Life in the Caves Today 🏠 While no one lives here year-round, these "casitas" are cherished family treasures. During the summer, locals "move in" to live a simple life dictated by the tides—no Wi-Fi, no city noise, just the sound of the waves crashing against the volcanic basalt. If you’re lucky, you might even see the water inside the cove turn a glowing, electric turquoise as the sun hits the white sandy bottom.

If you visit, please respect the locals' privacy and keep this paradise clean. 🌿✨
