Such a fun few days hosting our first of two groups from East of England Paddlesports with Undiscovered Montenegro!

As always Villa Miela surprised and inspired our guests, from our location within easy reach of so many brilliant, completely different paddlesports adventures - paddleboarding and kayaking on Lake Skadar, even packrafting on whitewater rapids on the nearby Morača river! Back at the ranch, everyone kicked back and relaxed, from evenings on the terrace watching the sun go down, to chilling in the pool with its beautiful mountain/valley views.

This was our first ever all-paddlesports retreat, and the fact it took place in the same week Lake Skadar was declared a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve made it even more special.

While there are so many things to do around the Lake Skadar area, it’s easy to forget the moments that happen in between the adventures, right here at the villa. 🏡

A slow morning coffee with a lake view ☕️, catching up with a book you started months ago on our woodland deck, the occasional visit of Rosie or Humphrey 🐈‍⬛(especially during meal times) and, of course, having fun at the pool 💦.

It's only the beginning of June and our mulberry tree is already full of fruit ✨

Sunsets, warmer days and evenings, and bowls slowly filling up with freshly picked mulberries, which is one of our favourite signs that summer is on its way. 🌅 Now the important question: what should we make with them? 👀 Jam, cake, juice… any suggestions? 🍇

Big thanks to Wonderways for sending 13 adventurous Belgians our way for a week exploring Lake Skadar 🇲🇪

Cold-water swims, river hikes, bonfire nights, homemade food and honey from the Dajković family – this crew threw themselves into the experience with big smiles and team spirit from day one.

A few guests even conquered their fears, stepping well outside their comfort zones on activities like canyoning. What a way to get to know Montenegro. 💪

Happy 20th birthday Montenegro! 🇲🇪

Today marks the 20th anniversary of independence for this beautiful country that we’re lucky to call home. 🇲🇪 From the mountains to the coast, and here at Lake Skadar, there is so much to see and love.✨

It's impossible not to think about how things have changed in that time, Villa Miela was a ruin back in 2006, and there were only a few tourists around. Now, while the natural beauty of the national park remains the same, the streets of Virpazar are vibrant from spring to autumn, filled with people celebrating nature, which is always such a special thing to see.

We’re already halfway through our first yoga week of the season with Undiscovered Montenegro and Yoga with Fiona, and it’s been a lovely one so far. 🧘‍♀️🌿

Wholesome morning yoga sessions, fun times on Lake Skadar, and plenty of time to relax and recharge. 💚
