Our Story
The Hillock Villa Kalaw - reopened in mid November 2016 by a small group of close friends wanting to share their love for hospitality and great service. The Bed & Breakfast retreat is offering a very private and warm atmosphere with its seventeen wooden style twin and double bed guest rooms in three separate buildings, and its redesigned lounges in alpine look with fireplace and lounge seating. Hillock Villa is a classic B&B, but nevertheless offers its guests convenient services and amenities such as free WIFI, in-room coffee/tea facility, complementary drinking water and slippers; bike rental, day tours and trekking guides are also on offer. Breakfast, local Shan or continental, is served on the terrace or the sun deck in beautiful view of the surrounding gardens. Hillock is located in a quite green area above town in walking distance (10min) to the town center and market. Transport service is available. Kalaw, high up in western Shan State, is an old hill station with a laid back atmosphere, refreshing climate and scenic views. Many of Kalaw’s original colonial-era buildings remain, and it is also known as Myanmar’s trekking mecca. Whether you are after a brief stroll to soak up the atmosphere and take in some hill views and the colourful flower-lined streets, taking one of the famous train rides from or to Kalaw, visiting the near-by elephant camp or view points high up the mountains, or making a longer multi-day trek to Inle Lake or Pindaya to witness the lives of the local hill tribes, Kalaw offers a wide variety of options for exploration – and a freedom of unfettered movement that is not always possible in other remote parts of Myanmar. Welcome to Kalaw, welcome to the Hillock Villa!
