21 year old, Modhyni A. Doorgasing, a young poet, harbored the sincere endeavor to write her own book since a young age. Her odes have graced the pages of the local newspapers on multiple occasions. Recently, she achieved a significant milestone by becoming an author under the aegis of the Ministry of Art and Culture. The celebration took place on August 17th at Lea Cafe in Port Louis.
Modhyni’s debut poetry book, titled “Enigma in Disguise,” represents a remarkable achievement. Within its pages, readers will explore 54 poems that blend themes of love, heartbreak, femininity, spirituality, success, and personal growth. One poignant anecdote captures the essence of her life: “Knife, dagger, and arrow were competing to see who was the best at causing the most excruciating wound, and conversely, the mind was having fun with a bunch of unspoken inflicting words.”
Her gratitude extends to all her supporters, and she currently resides in La Flora. For those interested in connecting with her, Modhyni can be reached at 58228124. You can also find her on Instagram as “aayushidoorgasing” and on Facebook as “Aayushi Doorgasing.” Notably, she was an ex-student at SSS Riviere des Anguilles.
Modhyni’s journey into writing emerged from grief and health traumas. Writing became her catharsis, allowing her to carve hope and resilience through her ink. She emphasizes the importance of surrounding oneself with torchbearers rather than skeptics when venturing into the unknown. The encouragement of fellow writers has been her bedrock, and she believes that creative minds never rest.
To write a book, Modhyni asserts, one must first become the book. Her inspiration fuels great ideas, even amidst desperation. Despite health challenges and anxiety three years ago, she now stands as an accomplished author. Her enthusiasm for Hindi language and teaching further showcases her prowess. The successful book launch event at Lea Cafe owes much to her muse, Sarah Janabi.
