Welcome to Shanti Ghar 💛

Nestled in Tamarin, on the west coast of Mauritius, Shanti Ghar is a family-run guest house at the foot of La Tourelle and just a few minutes from the beach.

Over the years, it has become a place where travellers meet and leave behind a little piece of their story.

Hidden away in a quiet neighbourhood, you’ll find a little corner of paradise surrounded by palm trees, frangipani flowers and lush greenery, with a swimming pool to cool off and plenty of spaces to relax.

Part of the charm of this place lies in its vintage colonial style, carefully renovated and filled with antique furniture and unique objects collected throughout its history.

Life here is easy-going. Guests meet, stories are shared, and conversations often last longer than expected.

At the heart of the house, you’ll find four spacious rooms, each with its own bathroom and private terrace.

Follow the frangipani-lined paths through the garden and you’ll discover two bungalows, offering another way to experience the place.

Shanti Ghar is also a family story. A place that has grown and evolved through the years, filled with memories and the people who call it home.

Our dinners are homemade, inspired by local Mauritian flavours and served around one table. It’s hard to resist a ti’ punch, and chances are you’ll learn a few words in a new language before the evening is over.

Breakfast is a continental buffet, and you can always ask for your eggs just the way you like them.

The soul of the place also lives in its furry friends, whose favourite thing in the world is receiving a few extra cuddles.

More than anything, Shanti Ghar is a place where people feel at home. A place where time slows down, where the island rhythm takes over, and where many guests come and go… and come back again.
