This World Reef Day, we celebrate the coral gardening project at Royal Island. 🪸
Set within the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, our coral gardening and restoration work focuses on nurturing young corals, supporting the house reef, and creating a living educational experience for guests.
The project includes coral nursery tree structures with around 120 coral fragments, helping support continuous coral growth and reef recovery. Even after the challenges of the 2024 heatwave, many fragments showed resilience, with replanting and close monitoring continuing beneath the surface.
A quiet reminder that reef care is ongoing, patient, and deeply connected to the life of the ocean.
